I love Bad Company 2, but this really saddens me as there are like 7 maps total to play in. Sure there have been 5 VIP map packs released since the game came out but all of those map packs consist of maps and modes that were already on the disk! They just kept unlocking them throughout the time period so it will seem like were getting maps. DICE havent made a single new map since they released the game! I mean cmon what the hell were stuck with only 7 maps total, i thought this game was trying to rival COD games, by the way i hate MW2 because of all the campers and hackers but the game has like 25 or more maps already and a ton of different modes. And EA is trying to pull a stunt saying the maps are free hello they were already on the disk they would be pretty stupid for charging for them. If we got like 5 new maps i would be extremely happy and pay for them, or release some old maps from BC1 that would be great too. What do you guys think ?

Then I am probably just going to trade it in. It hardly had any maps to begin with and most of the "new" maps were already on the disk. Also the squad system sucks compared to the PC.

So there were never any maps released after the game came out then? I mean, the VIP nonsense wasn't maps, it was modes on existing maps. Modes that the maps weren't designed for and, as a result, makes them less fun.

So, yeah, EA is on my **** list as well.

tbh arica harbour conquest is the only one worth ranting bout and manages to crap over the other maps, but all maps are actually designed with all game modes in mind its pretty obvious they just used the EA code to try cut used sales once people get it then meh.

This was a link in the link. Another article written by that guy. Perfectly describes my frustration with the game, even though I've only played 1943 before.

Oh, I'm aware. I don't see how that being obvious could, in any way, make the move more acceptable.

When I bought this game I thought by "free maps" they meant new maps, not the same maps that were already on the disk but with different modes

I buy almost all my games new unless I can wait a long time.

But I will purposely get the next DICE game (that I intend to buy) used.

Meh, I like the maps so it doesn't really bother me. If they don't release new maps, then they don't release new maps. As long as they release good games, then I'm not going to complain. I only paid 50 bucks for it.

What was wrong with it? They gradually unlocked more and more stuff within the game and it started off as a pretty substantial package. It was not new maps and such but given the general landscape of today's market I dont really see that as being a reasonable assumption...

The lag is freaking catastrophic on consoles, they think people on consoles are idiots (no server lists, no ability to select you own squad (Seriusly?!), inviting people to your match is a pain etc.), no new maps etc.

I hope EA and DICE get their act back together in time for Battlefield 3.

Substantial compared to what? CoD4 and MW2 the game the goes out of its way to mock released with way more content without having to waste extra money or waiting for a download. All vIP packs were was maps we already had, but unlocked game modes for it later on instead of having every map available for every game mode(something that should have been done on day one, like most online shooters). It wasn't handled very well, it was incredibly misleading. All it really did was hold back content that should have been there since day one. Than they have the nerve to charge for the DLC that is actually adding something substantial(A cooperative mode). From a content standpoint BC2 was lacking, and most of the lacking part was intentional.

I think that this has happened because of EA. I remember reading before about how EA was pressuring Dice to have their mappacks as DLC and how Dice pretty much told them no. So maybe the situation here is that EA is making them charge for any new maps, so instead of splitting the community and making them angry they just arent going to make any new maps.

Sadly dice foccused too much on the campaign in this game and imo Battlefield is only about multiplayer. Please Dice for your future games, forget crappy campaigns and make huge multiplayer games with lots of maps and modes.

Pretty much this but it's quite disappointing that none of the VIP Map packs contained new maps, I don't mind content on the disc being unlocked for free but all of the maps packs being on the disc already is pretty annoying.

Well, if they did, it didn't show. The campaign is terrible :(. Edit: I see you're saying that they shouldn't have bothered with the campaign (which turned out to be crappy anyways) at all.

---

This is disappointing news for active players, and I agree with the assessments of the poorly executed "VIP" deal. I'd like to add that it's dumb to only allow one, single user / profile on a system have access to the VIP content (on 360 & PS3). Why?

Bad Company 2 is the best FPS at the moment IMO. I play it on PC and it's fantastic. I'm pretty pissed off though that the game is not getting new maps. EA are just being douchebags and they want us to buy Vietnam and Battlefield 3...

Pretty lame considering Bad Company 2 just works... I like playing with modern weapons... I don't really feel like going back in time to vietnam. Maybe they should allow people who buy Vietnam to play the vietnam maps on Bad Company 2.

You could figure it out for yourself when only five out of eight maps were available at launch and EA was slowly trickling the rest out.

I used to have faith in DICE and what they said, so the day the second map pack was unlocked felt like a betrayal. Their words were just PR fluff and bull***. Sad and disappointing.

What's worse is that not only did they deceive us with comments about support leading up to its release. They failed to mention that they'd be ****ing us over with this VIP membership. Again, five Rush and Conquest maps at launch. They purposely made maps inaccessible for several months, bragging about free updates and whatnot. Insulting, deceitful and disrespectful. That's my perception of DICE after BC2.

Agreed here, the campaign was utter tripe and shouldn't have been created. They should have just put more content into the multiplayer.

If you got the game new you became a VIP and recieved free stuff. This ''free stuff'' has only been a handful of maps, mostly modified from other game modes and should be free to begin with. This'' VIP'' support has been a fail.

I haven'tplayed Bad Company 2 in a while, I gave up playing the game after suffering from too much lag, glitches, and bugs. I will defend DICE to an extent but the condition the game was in when I stopped playing it was inexcusable; come on DICE you are better than this! I also feel a bit cheated as DICE promised new maps and support after the game launched but instead we got the same recycled maps for different game-modes; I do not consider those new maps.

It especially sucks since the only "new" maps we received for BC2 were simply unlocks for different modes that were already on the disc.

Instead of wasting time on a mediocre singleplayer campaign they should have made more maps for online . I stopped playing because there simply wasn't enough map variety to keep me interested in the game.

No, the console version costs money, even more than the PC version. It's not fine if it's ****, which it is. Lag, no server lists. EA uses dedicated servers, yet it lags as much as MW2? Cheap support for the game from all angles.

That's all EA though, as far as support goes, they pull the purse strings. DICEs failure begins and ends with the weapons, which they went and made all these adjustments to based off feedback from people playing a laggy game. Not smart, DICE, not smart.

Now, you can snipe better with shotguns than you can with a sniper rifle and assault rifles are the weakest weapons in the game.

Not a big deal imo. And plus, I'm a proud tool [or dollar bill for that matter] for DICE, if not EA's products. Their product is great, and the quantity is there, so I'm fine. And yes, I'm waiting to be quoted and flamed.

Eh, it's fine as long as the PC version is great, which it is. These games weren't meant to be played on consoles anyway. :D

It's fine if it's crap because I have the PC version. ;)
