Best Artistic Style/Graphics?

While the forum is constantly arguing about graphics, the importance of artistic graphics often get overlooked. IMO something can run at 1080p, 60 fps, have HDR lighting and SSAO and MLAA and whatever else, but if the art style is horrid, I'll still find the overall aesthetic ugly.

So I thought for a change I'd make a thread looking at art style. This will all be subjective of course, but which games do you think have the best artistic graphics?

Valkyria Chronicles, Okami, and alot of the "Vanillaware"(I think is their name) games.:P

I always love these threads (not joking) and as usual Wind Waker is always the first response. I feel the urge to post tons of screens, but I gotta get some sleep. These threads are way better than tech graphics threads though. :D

wind waker, valkyria chronicals, killzone 2, the metroid prime games, the super mario galaxy games, and paper mario TTYD to name some.

Peace reigns on system wars as we all agree Okami and Wind Waker have the best art styles in gaming. :P

Some of my picks would be Wind Waker, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Valkyria Chronicles and Prince of Persia 2008 too.

It's probably not coincidental that they're all somewhat painting-esque.

The Witcher 2, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, OoT-3D, Paper Mario (all of them,) Darksiders, Crysis (Haters gonna hate,) World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Shogun 2, Metro 2033 (Another best of both worlds game,) Deus Ex HR, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and SMG 2, LittleBigPlanet, all Resident Evil (Ambience/environment is what makes the games,) Mortal Kombat, Muramasa, Sword and Soldiers HD, Super Meat Boy, Uncharted 2 and 3, and Street Fighter 4.

Yeah I listed a lot. I love me some art. If I had to pick just one it'd either be The Witcher 2 or WoW.

as for best artistic style:

as others have said, vanillaware games. muramasa: the demon blade, odin sphere, grim grimoire. soon grand knights history and dragons crown.

Wind Waker without a dobut, Skyward Sword looks great IMO too.

I think Eternal Sonata's environments are gorgeous, but I hate the **** out of the character designs. The characters look like dolls.

Shadow of the Colossus, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia 2008, Okami and Castlevania: Lament of Innocence are those that have stood out to me over the years.foxhound_fox

It doesnt. Nintendo fans just like to act like it does because the wii cant handle realistic graphics. There opinions will change when the Wii U comes out of course.

No but usually people that disregard great looking games like Gears and Killzone because they arent cartoony colorful rainbows are.

I think this all pretty much came from that user who said Killzone looked ugly. I prefer cartoon like games but you have to be blind to not notice that the Nintendo fanboys here usually dont have nice things to say about games like Battlefield, Killzone, Gears, etc.

The only one that has barely (if at all) been mentioned that stands out as an artistically beautiful game to me, is Kameo. Still an amazing looking game.
