like multimedia options? Well XBL, Media Center, DVD playback, Music/Video/ Picture Streaming.
the 360 probably has more multimedia functions than the ps3 but lacks bluray

When people have to use the word "probably" in this type of situation, it's a basically a gigantic red flag that says "I don't know what I'm talking about!"

Correct me if I'm wrong because I honestly dont remember, but isnt the music/video/picture streaming done through media center? Also, if you dont have media center on you computer (i.e. regular win xp or mac osx) isnt the media center/file streaming on the 360 useless?
And I thought the PS3 could also act as a media extender.
You can watch exactly the same movies with blu-ray as you can with DVD. Blu-ray is HD however and the sound in the PS3 is marginally better because the hardware is better. The advantage, hardwarewise, goes to the PS3. You can download or stream movies over both consoles (I believe). Moviewise in terms of downloads, after the November update, the 360 will have quite a lot more movies to choose from than the PS3 will. However a user has to have a Netflix account or be watching it with someone over Live that has an account.
In conclusion I'd say the Ps3 has the edge but only marginally.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know any specifics surrounding the use of Netflix on your xbox. Do you just stream the movies like you would on a PC, or do you d/l them to your hd? The reason i'm asking is because if you stream the movies like on a PC, their "watch it instantly" selection really really sucks...Achaean728I think they are streamed but you have a window of a couple days to actually watch the movie. I'm not sure if you can watch it multiple times or not in that time period.
PS3 has blu ray but xbox will soon have netflix... idk which I would use more.
I personally dont buy movies anymore so I'm gonna go with netflix. :D
I have an xbox and my friends have PS3s and none of us do anything but play games with them. I do have a psp and dont think i've used any of its other features either. All of the stuff consoles do can be done better on other devices.
since the ps3 also supports media streaming from a pc of images, music, and video as well as a download able vide store (poor canada) divx support, bluyray, dvd,cd rom, super audio cd ect doesnt the ps3 now support everything the 360 has plus more REMEBER GAMES ASIDEPrinceofSarcasmThe only thing the PS3 can do that the 360 can't is play blu-ray movies. Those exact movies can be played on the 360 either with a DVD or a soon to be rent from Netflix. I don't think one is vastly superior than the other regardless of how people twist the truth to meet their argument.
lets list the ps3 vs the 360
360: Media Center, Disc playback (dvd, cd), netflix, mutlimedia game ads (demos, trailers, etc.), good games, multimedia chat, proprietary hard drive, hdmi
PS3: Media Extender, slot loading Disc playback (BLU-RAY, dvd, cd), proprietary movie store, mutlimedia game ads, great games, multimedia chat, media card reader (at least mine does), bluetooth, laptop hard drive (third party replacables widly avalible), hdmi, web browser.
I think thats a good comparison, feel free to add or subtract features.

No it doesn't.
And whoever posted saying that your use of the word "probably" is an indication you don't know what you're talking about was correct, because you don't.
