PS3: Uncharted 2/KZ2/ GoW3/ Heavy Rain
360: Gears of War 2, RDR maybe... idk
Wii: lol are you serious?
Still nothing compared to PC though.
If it has to be a console then PS3 no doubt.
[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]Well, I want to play games too, though I don't have a lot of free time like I used to. i'm just saying you shouldn't buy a console to show off a tv, you should see what games interest you and the different features each games has, because i guarantee you your relatives aren't going to care for more than 2 mins about the game unless they have interests in games. Though god of war 3 does have the most epic intro scene ever, so meh..yeah buy a console to show off a tv, yes go for it

Wii art - SMG 1 and 2, Muramasa, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Epic Mickey (Later this year,) Tatsunoko vs Capcom, NMH2,
Wii tech - Red Steel 2, Metriod: Other M/Prime 3, SMG 1 and 2, Goldeneye 007, Sin and Punishment: SS, Monster Hunter 3.
PC tech/art - Crysis, Crysis Warhead, The Witcher, Dragon Age Origins, Oblivion, Starcraft 2, Mafia 2, Bad Company 2, ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead...theres too many games to list here.
Agree with the overall sentiment here. Nothing will take advantage of your 50" HDTV like a PC will, because, you know, the Pc is the only thing that will put up a full 1080p image on there that looks amazing.
The consoles can only upscale a 720p (or even less) resolution image, with lower graphics detail, lower rez textures, slower framerates, etc.

PS3: GT5... If the damn game ever comes out.... Yeah i'm griping but when it does come out it should look amazing in full 1080p with such great lighting and realistic graphics. Uncharted 2 should look nice too and Killzone 2 but only played the demo so won't say too much but seems people like it. Xbox: I like Gears graphics but not sure it would show off a TV... Reach looks great though it's well polished(most of it anyway).
Edit: Also buy some blu-rays and your well ahead of xbox in that department. A top blu-ray movie is usually only a few quid(or dollars) more than a dvd... Especially on a boxset when a pack of DVD's might cost £35 and only blu-ray it's £40... So the prices have definitely fallen but make sure they are 1080p to really show your TV off.
People are saying Gears 2 for 360.... Do you guys really believe the 360 is 3 years behind the PS3? I mean surely the have a better looking game than UC1/MGS4 by now..
if you want to show off your new 50" HDTV you hook up a gaming PC. Not a console with hardware from the stone ages.

From what i know on tvs, is they are different from monitors, a PC game can look worse depending on the tv you buy. ethier way a bluray is the best way to show off a tv
I am having a debate with my friend, and we can't agree on which game has the best graphics for each console. So, Best graphics for PS3= what game? Best graphics for 360 = What game? Best graphics for Wii = What game? My relatives will spend time at my house this Christmas. I want to buy a new console to impress them with graphics on my new 50" HD TV. What console is best if you want to impress you relatives with graphics? Xbox 360 or PS3?booniga

PS3
Then buy the Inception Blu-Ray.

I still need to get that on Blu-Ray. Thanks for the reminder. That movie was awesome.
If you don't have a lot of free time and just wanna buy a video game console just to impress your relatives, I would just go for a blu-ray player instead.
Idk, 50''? Why not buy a $700 computer from Newegg and run Crysis on 1650x1050 resolution or something? Computers, even without MLAA but at a higher resolution, have the capability to make more of your 1080p television. It may cost a bit more, but it definitely shows. Even on my 42'' 1080p tele, if I go up to about three feet away, I can see some jaggies in KZ2 and UC2 (don't know about GoW3 which does use MLAA cuz I haven't played it yet). However, if you build a nice machine with more compatible parts, such as ATI/AMD and Nvidia/Intel, you can get it for pretty cheap, especially over buying a pre-built one, and that PC will look so nice with your television :)Weird_Jerk3 feet. you sit 3 feet away from a 42" screen. you either meant 3 metres or your mental
doesn't matter what game you play on the wii. on a 50" screen that 480i resolution is always going to look ropey
