Im just curious about the response to this. I have a 360 and not a PS3. From the looks of it the PS3 has the same basic setup(having never laid my hands on one)as the PS2, which I own. IN comparison between the PS2 and 360 controller, the 360 is best without a doubt. Light, very comfortable, and perfectly positioned thumbsticks, with the only drawback being a poor D-Pad.What do you think?

360 controller is really great sans the d-pad, one of my faves. i like the lightness of the ps3 controller but don't care much for the triggers and lack of rumble (atm).

I don't care for the placement of the dual analog sticks on the Dualshock personally, the triggers never bothered me though. Still, I prefer the 360 controller, I can't recall the last time I used a D-pad for anything anyways.

ah same here. and less of a controller thing, but i guess the way it's programmed... i hate that the ps3 controller disconnects everytime you start up a ps1 or ps2 game, or quit those said games and back to the main menu. its not a big deal, just a minor nuisance.

I love the ps controller because it is a very balanced controller that works well for just about every genre. Plus is very confortable, the lack of weight takes getting used to. If it ain't broke why fix it. I'll even say that the position of the sticks works even with fps but maybe I have been playing ps consoles for too long.

Both have glaring disadvantages. The 360 suffers from a terrible d-pad. If you don't play many fighters or games that require a d-pad, then this will not matter as much but it is terrible. The sixaxis is incredibly un-ergonomic and it lacks rumble. The former causes some serious handcramping with extended play (I know, I've been playing with the Dualshock and Dualshock 2 for a decade now) and the latter removes a whole level of immersion from gameplay. From what I hear, rumble is coming back but the overall choice on which system to buy should be based on the games (most improtantly the exclusives) and not the controls.

360 Controller. Personally, it's the best controller I've used. I love the layout, and the way it sits in your hands. The wireless controllers are the perfect weight. The center button for turning off the console and getting back to the menu is flawless.

I'm tired of the PS3 controllers. I've been using the same controller for 10 years when I had the dual shock on my PSone. The motion sensing is weak and feels tacked on, and the triggers are a good idea but not implemented very well.

Def go for the 360 apart from the d-pad. The problem with the 6axis is that the layout is based on the old ps1 rumble pad where the sticks were pretty much starpped on.

360 controller: Very comfy, good resonsive triggers, rumble.

Bad: D pad sucks, bumper buttons suck.

PS3: Good triggers for racing, best analog sticks ever, motion senser works great, d pad rocks, good for most genres.

Bad: Trigger is bad for FPSs, interface is bad for FPSs, no rumble.

I like where the D-Pad is on 360 'cos when I used to play with PS controller, my left thumb would start to feel strain on analogue stick (being lower down) where many games such as FPSs you would be holding forward most of the time.

I also like how the LT and RT slide as they are similar to a gun's trigger instead of buttons on PS pad. Seriously I'm not a fan boy (note the avatar) and I think my PS1 days were ace with split screen party games. When I bought PS1 it was released as dual-shock so the pad that came with it was new - Analogue and vibes and even then i thought the thumbsticks stuck out a bit too much... ah well thats my opinion.

I've always prefered the sony Direction pad but Microsoft's pad is really comfty - afterall it is based on the sidewinder (the old Microsoft gamepad) with a couple of ideas "taken" from SEGA

only a select few controllers have the good d-pad, i have one controller with the perfect d-pad, my other 360 controller has the left bad on the d-pad but the good remote plays like the first xbox controller d-pad, perfect.

Why haven't fluffy controllers been made yet? They would be so cosy... :)
