Best Fighting Game Series EVER

between tekken and soul calibur for me... been playing a lot of tekken on psp lately though, so I guess I'll vote tekken

Street Fighter and KOF - XII for me.

And for the people that don't think Smash is a fighter you guys need to learn some acceptance. Just because its a different type of fighter doesn't not make it a fighter. When Virtua Fighter first came out did people say it wasn't a fighter because it was 3D and the standard 2D? No. The game is a fighter whether it uses 4 players, a different system, an easy to get into move set ect.

Sure there are better fighting games out there and more in depth ones but the game didn't appear at two evo's for not being a fighting game. Of course now its not there anymore but thats because I said there are better more in depth games out there to play.

Street Fighter. Smash Bros. is a Fighter but christ, it's far from the best one. :lol:

SF for 2D

I can understand not wanting to associate Smash Bros. with a genre filled mostly with crap, but come on now. Give it up. I doubt anyone can think of a genre description that includes Dead or Alive, Mortal Kombat, Soulcalibur, Street Fighter, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter, but not Super Smash Bros. So what exactly you did?? Show us a score of a game , and that automatically made it ... Better fighting game than SF and Tekken?.. Because Tekken 3 had 9.9 and SF is a legend that countless tours happened with a 10 years old game as SF3

Why on earth is mortal kombat a contender in all of these lists? There was only ONE good mortal kombat game that was actually a good fighter, all the rest were just cheesy horrible gimmicky bloodfests

I have never been a huge fighter fan, but If I'm playing one it will be mortal kombat for the laughs.

Evo 2009's schedule:

Tekken and Virtua Fighter is button combination memorization. Street Fighter IV is based around linking together more simple button presses. Super Smash Bros. has much more emphasis on spacing and ranged attacks. There's no reason it shouldn't be considered a fighter.

I'm a 2D brawler, and nothing comes even close to the Street Fighter series.

Mortal Kombat. Street Fighter is okay, but too cheezy for my taste.

Street Fighter, but only because there is no KOF option.

I have to go with the Smash Bros. series, especially since Brawl makes me money.

Agree, for me MK2 was the last good MK game, and DOA is a better franchise.

Street Fighter has Dan. Need I say more?

I think Tekken by far. Has the most creativity and the characters actually have stories.

Yes it is, animations and sounds and graphics have been reused for the last 4 games, and Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks was a complete disgrace that was a poor attempt to catch 12 year old RPG fans interests.
