I'd personally say PC KB&M easily reigns supreme due to its increased responsiveness in FPS. That responsiveness and accuracy is a big reason why FPS games on PC do not need auto-aim like on consoles.

Afterwards I would give it to Xbox One controller due to high amounts of native PC support. DS3 or 4 only really work well with 3rd party programs to enable *nearly full* functionality. The analog sticks themselves I would also say are better on the Xbox One. I could never get comfortable with the symmetrical dual-sticks on dualshock controllers.

Last would probably be the DS4 due to aforementioned.

I'll probably end up picking an Xbox One Elite controller next month. It will most likely be the best first-party game-pad of this next gen due to its high customization. Only really getting it for hack and slash games or NBA 2K games though.

Only downside to KB&M is lack of analog inputs and less ergonomic. X1 and 360 controllers are easily the best.

If we ignore the battery issue, PS4 controller wins this easily.

Best controller of this gen.

While I prefer the Xbox one controller to the PlayStation 4 controller, what I will say is that I am not as happy with the Xbox one controller compared to the Xbox 360 controller . The Xbox one controller's triggers are too large and they end up becoming too easy to hit when I don't want to . The Xbox 360's controller felt better but even they weren't as good as the original Xbox controller S triggers. Elite controller for only $150 sounds like an overkill to me. I could easily afford to get one but it simply doesn't make sense to me to do so . I only use KB/M for FPS and RTS.

I'd like to try out the Steam Controller once it's released. See how it compares to the rest.

KB and mouse for FPS, TPS and strategy. For some genres, controllers work better, I like both the xbone/360 and ps4 controllers.

The Dual Shock 4 is a huge step in the right direction with cupped analog sticks and it's a bit larger for better grip. The fist dual shock was a let down (which sadly laid the ground for the ps2 and ps3 controllers) compared to Sony's fist analog controller, the dual analog which had cupped analog sticks and was a little larger, better for anyone who don't have small girly hands.

A cherry mx brown mechanical keyboard and a decent mouse. But that's a no brainer... From actual controllers, DS4 with Xbone analog sticks is the best all around controller.

You really are new.

Hope you realize the only people who were trolling you in your first thread were PC gamers.

Keyboard&Mouse, controllers don't specialize in any type of gaming.

.. Mouse and keyboard for some genres.. Gamepad for other genres.. When it comes to basically anything third person I feel like game pads are far better.. That being said I hope the Steam controller bridges the differences in offering the advantages of the gamepad while coming closer to the precision to mouse and keyboard.. I don't expect it to be obviously superior to mouse and keyboard in the games it is good with, but it would sure be great to see it improved upon.. I have high hopes for the steam controller, and have already preordered one months ago.

Seriously though; that controller deserves a design award or something. One of the worst controllers ever (symmetrically) yet somehow wasn't terrible.

Wii U game pad. It's just like a normal controller, except you can play without a TV. Which I find very useful.

For my PC I have kb+m (obviously), DS3, DS4 and 360 wireless for windows.

I'll not rank the keyboard since its kinda a seperate thing used for a different set of games.

for the rest:

1. DS4

2. DS3

3. 360 wireless.

I am not a big fan of the 360 controllers. It feels clunky and awkward compared to the sony ones. I only use it because it the only one that works wirelessly with my PC so I can play games on the TV without having to move anything around.

I've only used the XBONE controller once and I hated it.

Xbox 360 controller. The One controller took a step back with ergonomics and the bumpers, even if the D-pad and analog sticks were improved. The 360 controller is perfect with the exception of the d-pad. I use it for all PC games, even shooters (gonna get hate for that). Mouse + Analog movement stick would probably be the best setup for anything that didn't require extensive shortcuts.

@wizard: Wow; pretty much exactly my dislikes coming from the 360 to the Xbox One controller.

The bumpers don't feel nearly as nice, nor does the trigger, nor do the bumpers.

These are some of the big reasons I am getting an elite controller. Pretty sure they are adding the new bumpers on the elite and they have confirmed trigger stops which will be great for console gamers who play FPS' a lot. The adjustable analog sticks, swappable d-pad, and hair-triggers will be the crème de la crème.

@--rmcp--:

The Xbox Elite controller looks like a beast. Most people complaining about its price don't understand the appeal or options that customs offer. On PC especially there is no aim assist crutch, and everything down to joystick dead zone and height should be customized to the users liking. Controller mods offer a lot of precision over the factory ones.

Is it really fair to compare console controllers with a KB&M? Something with 10-12 buttons compared with over 100?

Anyway, the Xbox One controller is by far the most comfortable controller I've ever held...it's as if it was tailor designed for my size of hand. I'll be getting the Elite controller for sure next month. In fact, the sole reason I haven't picked up a PS4 yet is the controller. Ever since the OG xbox controller came out so long ago, I haven't been able to go back to symmetrical analog sticks on the Dual Shock. It just feels...terrible.

I'm also getting a new Logitech G710+ Brown Switch KB and Corsair M65 mouse in the mail tomorrow...I'm really excited lol.

Why not? They are both control inputs. The amount of buttons doesn't make a difference.

Anyway yeah. I am currently gaming with a Corsair K70 with cherry MX switches and a Razr deathadder mouse.

@Bruin1986:

I feel the same way. First time I picked up an Xbox controller it was so natural, they actually fit the natural morphology of your hand. (If you hold out your hands the thumb is naturally pronated, not curled, which is why DS controllers will always be objectively less comfortable - it requires more muscle contraction to hold and operate it.)

My personal favorite controllers in order:

  1. Xbox 360
  2. OG Xbox Duke
  3. Gamecube Wavebird
  4. Sega Dreamcast
  5. Sega Genesis 6-Button

For this gen:

Xbox One > WiiU Pro > PS4 DS4

Anyone who thinks the Xbox One controller is best obviously doesn't know controllers.

The Xbox 360 is the best followed by the PS4 controller.

That's the list.

Keyboard and mouse?

That's hilarious, in a world where power point presentations are games that's best, you're right.

360 controller, despite being a PC gamer for the last few years I normally go for a controller, so I can slouch.
