best game ending

What would you say is the best game ending

its one of the most underated games. didnt get enough exposure. best ending i have to go with phantom dust. story was really good and the ending was creative and unexpected. one of the saddest endings in the game, but thats what made it good cause it was unexpected.

i have another personal favorite. its mgs1. it felt like i was watching a good action movie while playing a game.

I'll add Psychonauts, Snatcher, Final Fantasy VII, and Sonic CD because it was an entire anime sequence and that was a first for the series.

The second ending of Resident Evil 2. It ended the same way the first disc ended but when the boss battle was over and you thought you had finished it it came back to life, went through another mutation and another fight.

In my case I had set down the controller thinking it was over and when it revived the rumble knocked the controller into the floor and I had to go diving after it, awesome stuff, one last scare before the game finished.

1- Okami had a really inspiring ending .

2- Many people didnt like gow2's ending but I absolutely loved it, it showed how badass Kratos is  .

3- Metal gear solid series had a bunch of mindblowing endings . (although I think the should change that "you have been betrayed by your governmnent scenario because we're getting used to it . )

I have a number of favorites.  Here's the short list:

 1. Any Panzer Dragoon ending from any of the games. (Talk about masterful music scores)

2. D2 (One of the most meaningful endings for a game, movie, show...etc.)

3. Killer 7 (This game's plot and ending is FAR ahead of it's time.)

4. Super Mario Bros 2 (I never get tired of watching that sleeping animation during the credits)

5. Nights into Dreams (Has 3 endings and I believe 3 versions of the ending song)

6. Christmas Nights (That Boys 2 Men like rendition gives me a great warm inside)

7. Zelda: OoT (I damn near teared up at the end. The journey was that fun)

8. Zelda: TP (Same deal)

9. Sonic CD (The music, the little animations....nuff said)

10.  Sonic Adventure (The fact that they took the time to give every character their own song says it all)

11. Shenmue (Now thats how you end and intro to a sage)

12. Shenmue 2 (And that's how you continue a saga)

Super Metriod for snes...

    -you find out the metroid is your friend

    -get that super colorful lazer blaster for a gun (everytime you hit motherbrain's head with it you feel great)

    -have to escape the level and you can save the little monkeys and the bird thing

    -finding out samus was a girl

lol. i loved that ending 2! i mean it was so unexpected that the yellow smiley face gets some pretty sweet shades...

Torment was a great game story and the end was good.

I also liked condemned (but I know a lot didn't).

 kinda liked the mgs 3 ending.. When you realize that snake had killed a true american patriot. So sad.

Well also loved the chrono triger ending.. Well endings. SImply because it was the first game I played with multiple endings (You might have asked for a ending or something.. but watever. I still say chrono triggers endigs)

Torment was a great game story and the end was good.

Hmmm...  I know I'm really forgetting one I really liked most.

Hitman Blood Money

Final Fantasy VI:  One of the best ending musical medlies ever... they took each character's theme music, revamped it, and put it together over cool little epilogue sequences.  Really amazing, you beat the game over and over just to hear the awesome music at the end!

Final Fantasy VIII:  Hated the game, but I have to admit that the ending was one of the most well-done I had seen from Square.

Halo CE:  I think the whole last level is the "Ending".  The escape in a Warthog as the timer ticks down and the ring world is about to explode as the Flood infestation kicks into high gear is one of the most adrenaline pumping and epic sequences I've ever played.  Even better when playing with a friend on Legendary!

Chrono Trigger:  Multiple endings all of which were cool, but the "best" ending had you saying your goodbyes to the friends you made throughout the game as they return to their own time periods, and then your mom and pet cat get pulled into the last time portal in existence!  Good thing you still have a time machine...

EASILY MGS3: Snake Eater. That ending made many grown men cry.

and the death of a hero...the death of Solid Snake in MGS4 will surely be the best ending in any video game ever. 

MGS3 has the best ending ever in my opinion, after knowing so much about the boss I felt quite sad pulling the trigger on her :cry:Swift_Boss_A

Silent Hill 2 (Some of the endings anyway)

Here's my top 5, in reverse order:

5. Shadow of the Colossus - Strange, but utterly entrancing.

4. Half-Life - Simply astonishing. I had to beat nihilanth one more time just to see it.

3. Ico - An excellent end to an excellent game. Fantastic soundtrack for the ending too.

2. Metal Gear Solid 3 - Heartwarming, emotional and powerful. And none of this 'Oh, it was all fake' plot twist rubbish.

and the winner is...

1. Killer 7 - The final 20 mins simply defined the spectacle of awe within a videogame. And the bit at the very end with Garcian on the roof... man that gave me the chills.

The Metal Gear Solid series has the best endings.

But FF VIII's ending deserves a special mention as well.
