Best game this Gen!!

Why do people keep saying this^? Let's face it, the best game this Gen pretty much is the best game ever, sure maybe some game from last gen maybe had such a good story that it could compensate for the fact that this games this gen has a huge advantage technically, but in no way can games like Zelda: oot, mario 64 or whatever still be considered the best game ever.

keep in mind Im not talking about:

• Most critically aclaimed game ever
• Most popular game ever
• The game who had the biggest impact
• The best game in relation to what technology was available at the time.

let's compare uncharted 2 and zelda: oot. (Btw im not saying U2 is best of this gen but just for simplicity, and also may I say that I actually don't have zelda: oot but it isn't that relevant for my point)

Ok so let's say the story (one of the weak points in U2) in Zelda is amazing & the best ever & kicks uncharted ass and the gameplay is also the best ever better than uncharted still this is what it'll look like when compared to each other:

Story (hyopothetically)

• U2=6/10
• Zelda10/10

Gameplay(hyopothetically)

• U2=8/10
• Zelda10/10

Graphics

• U2=10/10
• Zelda=0/10

Music

Zelda has good music but it's crappy midi files pretty much. unaccaptable

• U2=10/10
• Zelda=2/10

Voice acting

There is none in Zelda

• U2=10/10
• Zelda=0/10

So U2 gets 34 points out of 40 while zelda gets 12/40.

And maybe it's unfair to have voiceacting as its own category but my point is whatever makes zelda great it can compensate for it's huge technical disadvantage And if you say "but at that time it was impossible to make as good graphics as today" well that doesn't make zelda a better game now does it? one of my four aforementioned points.

So in conclusion

The best game this game~The best game ever

And yes maybe Half Life 2 (which I don't have) can still be considered the best game ever for various reasons and if it is for some great aspects that can compensate for the technical disadvantage compared to now, then fine, but why do I see f****** zelda on top of every list of top list.

So I believe people played Zelda when they where seven and thought it was the best game ever (which it probably was then) and has since refused to acknowledge anything else can be better cause they get nostalgic and remember their childhood game experiences.

What's your list trying to prove? it's all last gen games. And they're all WAY better than zelda.

And also I didn't say I like uncharted art more than Zelda I said the Graphics where betterwhich you can't deny, also I even said I liked Zelda's music but it's crap quality andin factthe theme a simple melody like some children song or something, whereas uncharted music has a whole orchestra incorporating for example Turkish influences, african influences and lots moreand also has its own touch and is great as support for the game. My point is sure you can say you like Zelda but it's not better.

Again you prove just my point, you played zelda when you where 5 and has since refused tothinkany other games can come close because it would ruin everything your childhood was based on or something.

And how is the gameplay better? I just said it hypothetically it could be. Yes uncharted is linear and a little too short but on the other hand it's way way way more detailed, and linear or not has nothing to do with good or bad it's like saying uncharted is better because it's a TPS while zelda is RPG, it's a genre. And 7 hours lol?maybe on reallyeasy.Play it on hard and you have at least 15+ hours and more to get platinum and then there is the online that was one of the best ever (until 1.05). I've spent almost 300 hours on U2 so even here it beats zelda's merely 100+ hours (I don't think this point isvalid but since u used it)

I pretty much agree with u on Demon's Souls. And BTW it has 60+ hours gameplay, a largeworld to explore, literally the best gameplay ever & also great graphics and voice acting so Demon's Souls is another game that is way better than Zelda.

there is no best or worst game ever, because would require objectivity. This is 100% not possible as everything is subjective.

Unchated 2 is not perfect in gameply, it is very short and very repeatitve and with zero depth or complexity

There is nothing to compare there, one is a deep RPG you can play for months with varied and complex gameplay, the other is a linear short shooter with cinematic appeal

Both are good, but comparing, Demons Souls is much better game, more involving

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is still the greatest all around game I have ever played. Wind Waker is a close second.

Ocarina of Time has beautiful graphics, you cant give it 0/10 for graphics. Its fully 3D environments and objects rendered in real time with textures, which is possible only thanks to N64s unmatched 3D power! And more importantly - it still looks great even after 15 years and the level design hasnt been matched yet.

TC, you are comparing a game that was marketed for having graphics so beautiful that it looks like a movie and amazing voice acting, oh and music quality that is up to 2010 standards. If you think that Zelda: OoT is a great game in story and gameplay in comparison to Uncharted 2 than you are saying that OoT is the better game, the graphics and sound of OoT were beautiful at the time but if you showed somebody U2 in 1998 they would be amazed. You're comparing a BB gun to an M16 as far as performance and voice acting shouldn't even be part of the rating because OoT doesn't even have voice acting.metroidprime55

UC2 wasn't even GotY 2009. If OoT was released on XBLA as a new game, it would still be one of my top three games of all time. It's not just graphics that form a masterpiece. OoT had so much more to it; the game world was amazing, as were the themes, towns, dungeons & characters. Coupled with the memorable music & you have a timeless adventure full of charm & character.

I miss games like OoT. Now we have linear games that are ~10 hours long that just have pretty visuals with guns, explosions, cinematic effects & a few one liners thrown in, & the new generation of gamers worship them. As for the best game this generation, Demon's Souls or Braid spring to mind. OoT is better though.

I find it very amusing that Zelda is so amazing you are comparing it to today standards.

Anyways when people talk about Best Game Evah they normally are refering to the game that gave them the overall best experince. Just because Zelda OoT didnt have voice acting or amazing graphics doesnt mean it wasnt a better experience.

Sure Uncharted 2 was an amazing game, but when people have played a game that was a better experience, Uncharted wont be the Best Game Evah.

Specs dont determine wether a game is good or not. Lasting appeal determines that. Uncharted 2 will be forgoten. Zelda OoT will be remebered for generations to come.

Soon, that 2 will be replaced with a 3. Nothing comes close to the fun Battlefield 2 has, except WoW but I'd still take Battlefield 2 anyday. Cannot wait for Battlefield 3. Gonna be so freakin' epic on PC! :D

oh, and by the way, why is Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 the top two highest reviewed games of this generation? Those games are running on much lower tech than the other gaming systems and yet many reviewers and gamers alike love them as some of the best gaming has to offer

because technical merits are just the foundation, the important part is what you make with that foundation.

and as for the best game this gen, if you can count twilight princess than that's it. if not, i'd say it's pretty close between uncharted 2, mgs4, and the super mario galaxy games.

My favorite game this gen is not my favorite game of all time. There is no best game of all time, as it is simply subjective, a person could hate every game I listed below, it is his opinion, which is equally correct as mine.

Overall: Super Mario Galaxy
Graphics: Napoleon Total War (Crysis looks better but the scale here is bigger)
Gameplay: Dephends on my mood. It is either Galaxy, Mount&Blade or Starcraft 2 (Galaxy 2 may play better but is not as fresh, Mount&Blade is superior to Demons Souls harder and much better combat and Starcraft 2 is the sequel to the pinacle of not only RTS, but also competitive gaming, unless you count chess of course).
Story: Mother 3 (the ending was one of the saddest parts in gaming imo)
Longetivity: Starcraft 2 (very deep gameplay, highly competitive scene and modding tools that makes Little Big Planet 2 look very meh)
