I thought they had a seperate section for console and pc goty before 2000 even. Didn't ocarina win it for 98?

IMO: if ocarina does count.. Ocarina of Time. Otherwise, it's a tie between Prime and SMG followed by Grim and Diablo.

EDIT: Ah nevermind, Ocarina's absense is because gamespot used to be PC only(while videogames.com covered consoles).. i believe.

I think they made a separate site in 98 for consoles and combined the two in 2000. I think we should count it because it was the first 10 either way.

I just did a quick search, and it seems these are the unlisted console goty's

1997: Final Fantasy 7
1998: Ocarina of Time
1999: Soul Calibur

96 doesn't have a console game as it seems console games were not covered at all. Videogames.com was launched at the very end of 96.

Maybe because, if you were paying attention, they didn't count console games until 2000 or 2001. 1998 would've easily gone to Ocarina of Time. PC, between 2001 or 2002 to now has only one one GOTY, 2004's World of Warcraft. GameCube has gotten three. LOL! PC gaming.

I said 2001 or 2002 because I wasn't sure which one got it and I was too lazy to check back. Hence the "or 2002."
