Best God of War game?

This thread must have been made thousands of times before, but here it is again anyway.

So which God of War game is the best according to you? GoW II and GoS for me.

3, my 2010 GOTY. I haven't beat 1 and 2 in years, and CoO is amazingly fun, GoS I've never played...

The first one, imo

First one was amazing, the second one blew me away. The best possible swan song for the PS2

GoW2. Best PS2 game in my opinion.

Hmmm that is tuff. I have to sayit's between Ghost of Sparta and God of War 2.

They were both totally awesome.

I'm kind of immune to nostalgia, so whenever I play prequels from ages ago they just seem outdated and the initial enjoyment that I had cannot be duplicated, so 3 is the best to me right now. It's just smoother and more polished, I don't really care about the back story in these games.rasengan2552

2 or 3, but I can't decide.

God of War 2. That isn't nostalgia speaking either, I played all three consecutively over about four days when I bought the collection + 3 with my PS3. God of War 3, while looking amazing & having some cool set pieces, felt a lot less varied than GoW 2 & felt like a small step back, despite improving in other areas.

I'm sure he is. I agree with him. God of War 3 was the worst in the series. Gameplay wise (and obviously technically), it is the best the series has to offer but in the other departments, it is a hell of a failure.

Oh, and God of War 2 is my personal favorite. Great boss fights, excellent pacing and great music . It made me hyped for the sequel immediately upon completion. Sadly, God of War 3 started going downhill after Hades... :( (Though, Kronos and the Hercules fights were great).

For me 3 really dropped the ball. Why is the first battle arguable the most epic? And the ending? I don't care about what Greek mythology says, ending one of the most hardcore stories the way they did was just weak :P. I'm going with 2.

The first was incredible.

The second was amazing (story,gameplay,characters,and the epic boss fights).

The third was OK.

The second was my favorite.

Ghost of Sparta is my favorite. So much win in that game.

The first one kept me mildly entertained for a bit. The game was good enough to see it through to completion even though the combat was very disappointing.... tried 2 and 3 and got bored way too fast and never bothered with the handheld games.

God of War ... for a lot of reasons
