Its true though... ps3 is out selling the 360 at the same time periods. This is mainly because MS couldnt get enough units out there, but we dontno thats a fact.

Lol ok...shortages aside...you do see that in the 12th-14th month the 360 spiked HARD...which is coincidentally right around the Wii and PS3 launch windows.

So the 360 has only sold 5.5 million units over fifteen months:?I hate to say it, but VG charts is proving to be very inconsistent in their sales reporting...which dually unfortunately isn't anything new.

I believe those are U.S sales only.. When are people going to realize that 360's were impossible to find till March, which severly cut there sales...

Funny thing is, NPD puts the X360 numbers from LTD until now at 4.9mil. If anything, VGC is overrating the numbers... X360 first three months in NA: 860,000 PS3 first three months in NA: 934,000 Those are NPD numbers.

it's just showing a comparison between launches and has no real measure right now. The fact that this is the US is still funny because the PS3 is going to sell better in Asia and Europe. We can only wait and see a year from now.

Xbox 360 was launch worldwide, also sales in Japan were awful. Especially the first three months. ps3 has'nt been launch in Europe yet. Biggest pwn ever!!!!!

Well, the 2nd to 3rd months look dead even rate of sales. (slope is the same) This graph will be more interesting after the PS3 is out for at least 12 months.

Nice try, but there's no chart for worldwide sales on VGCharts, so no having launched in Europe is irrelevant.

No they are not, thats actually where it's is prob. at. NPD doesn't account for all sales, maybe around 70% total. So NPD says 4.9m, then 5.5m is prob. like the real total.

Considering 360's were hard to find till almost spring...I think it's damn impressve it only that far back.

thats really only becasue it was the first holiday season you could actually get one. Also, most people who bought a 360 at my store as a gift, got one becasue we didnt have any PS3's or Wii's.

link? I admit you would see one or two, but piles is an exageration. The PS3 however has been proven to be rotting in stores.

The huge spike right when the PS3 and Wii launched is disturbing.

I can't see anywhere the 360 taking speed after March 2006. Was there really any shortage? It should have at least a little spike to when it became available, but nothing. Maybe it just changed some "month 1 sale" into "month 2/3/4/5"...Probably...

But during that time, the PS3 Outsell (for now) the 360 in north america for the 2 first months of the consoles.

NPD estimates the remaining 30-40% of sales from the major retailers that they cannot get sales information from. They include the numbers in their total, it's just that the rest is estimated based upon the trend that is going on at the time. And I can counter the "hard to find" argument with the fact that the PS3 is touted as being "too expensive" and "lacking games." That's impressive.
