I have both, and I can't max out GTA (can anyone  ?) but I can run it pretty well. Same story with Arma 2, but boy does it looks o much better.
ArmA II isn't getting very good reviews (sub 7's). I'm wondering if it's the bugs weighing down the experience? I didn't read a review of it yet because I didn't feel like it.DeathScape666That's because its not a "game" like gears or whatever. It's a platform for modders. Critics don't understand that.
Crysis could be considered a open world game, can't it. Where are the hermits with the crysis pics?
But I agree Arma 2 scale is the Chizz
Assassin's Creed or Crackdown, you can't beat Crackdown's explosions.DeadMagazines
Crackdown ... LOL... even infamous explosions look better.
And if you are going to talk about explosions use red faction.. C'mon.

Its MetaScore is on 77. And yeah it has buggy quirks, and there is a lack of polish - its worth noting the german reviews are so low due to the publisher pushing out an early release of a beta build of the game, in the region. Otherwise sites such as GameTrailers simply didn't 'get it' when reviewing the game - the fact it is a simulation. Its also worth noting its one of the most complex, deep, comprehensive and replayble games this generation.

Anyone forgetting about Crysis? Game looks superb. If I had to judge based on mos topinions here on Arma 2 and GTA4 I would choose GT4. It just has such an amazing art style that makes me really feel like I'm in New Y.. I mean Liberty City lol

Its a world better than ArmA I. Its a proper evolution of the Flashpoint formula and design; a proper sequel.
Saying that I dont think the game should be docked for being a niche title at all. Its what it sets out to be.
Crysis is not open world, it has levels, very big ones sure, but it still has them.
GTA4, Saints Row, Farcry 2, Assassins Creed, Prototype etc are open world games.
Being open world however does not mean better gameplay, as Crysis proves, a balance is best.
So i stand by Farcry 2 is the best looking open world game! :)

Wow you like ArmA ll, would have never guessed. lol jkjk. For me I'd say Fallout 3 I guess.[QUOTE="DeathScape666"]ArmA II isn't getting very good reviews (sub 7's). Crysis isn't really an open world game though, it's a linear game with very open levels.Anyone forgetting about Crysis? Game looks superb. San Andreas for its time.
The game had such a distinct setting, not to mention forests and deserts. It felt like a big state.
[QUOTE="ropumar"]Nah, its a sandbox game, not an open world one, which pretty much bars it from the comparison. and just how aren't those two the same? From what I remember, GTA3 made the "sandbox" genre a gamer household name. I guess everyone saying GTA4 are excluded as well, huh?Crysis could be considered a open world game, can't it. agreed. i don't get how people are saying gta4, i havn't seen it on pc, but on my friend's 360 it's HIDEOUS! niko's face is all chunky, the water has smooth caps (a pure mistake, not a computing power problem), theres barely lighting that i can tell, and most vehicles are matte(as in, cars aren't shiny)Farcry 2, might be a flawed game, but its rather pretty.

I would say ARMAII, but It graphically reminds me of STALKER.
Great looking environment, but it has average character/Weapon models
I'll just say Infamous is my personal favorite looking open world, but only because of it's art style.

Sometimes your teammate AI's decide to run out int he open..when they aren't supposed to die. Also people like to get stuck in walls and stuff, so once they patch it up, im sure it will be better.
best looking as in graphics only it obviously goes to Assasins creed.
But best looking in art style Id say that it belongs to Prince of Persia (if that counts, it had open world elements too it...)

Dont let reviews tell you how good or bad a game is.
Some of my favorite games ever got reviews in th 7's it seems.
At least for me i disagree with over 90% of reviews when it comes to videogames/music/movies.
Back to the thread topic... Crysis has the best open world imo.
