Please post your best memories of games that you bought on launch day (or close), that you stayed up hours, days or weekends playing :D
#1 - Dune 2 on PC - This game was one of the first games to not only have me addicted to 3 or 4 in the morning (i was very young at the time to haha), but also MY DAD!! It was my dads first game he got hooked on. He saw me playing it at about 8pm before i went to bed and my dad satrted to play the game after i went to bed....... 4:00am comes around and i wake up to go to the washroom and what do I see? My dad still playing Dune2 at 4am!! He ahd always said that would nevert happen to him with a videogame, but here he was playing Dune2, addicted as to hell on this game, 2 hours befor ehe had to leave for work haha. Great times with Dune2, it was so addicting and the first and BEST RTS game of all time imo.
#2 - Mario Bros and Galaga - NES - Basic kind of bomberman type of mario bros on the nes, but boy was it fun!!!!! I spent many a hours on Galaga and the First Mario BRos on the NES!
#3 - Doom2 - PC - Playing this on deathmatch on dialup modems was crazy fun! That is until someone called or picked up the phone, wrecking out doom2 deathmatch! hehe
#4 - Vandal Hearts - PS1 - Classic strategy rpg game that me and my sisters played as youngsters. It was one game that we beat in a month, which was quite good for us because we didnt beat many games back then, but Vandal Hearts we got so addicted to. This game was pure fun back as a kid.
#5 - Fallout 1 -PC - You have to understand that when Fallout1 came out, NOTHING like that had been done before. The humour, the vats combat, the atmosphere, and just the overall total package of this game was and is amazing. Back as a kid i picked Falllout1 up the day it was released, i got home, isntalled the game and was then hooked for the next week straight. Something about stealing form all these people in the game and how the traits actually played a big role in the game was just amazing. Not to mention the amazing story and great writing/dialogue. ALso great characters and awesome gameplay!
#6 - Team Fortress 2 - PC - This game is just pure masterpeice and ive spent many a nights and weekends on this game. Its jsut got so much depth and teamwork on this game. Not to mention THE BEST COMMUNITY IN A ONLINE GAME EVER. Plus its got good humour and TONS of user made levels,etc..
#7 - Metal Gear Solid 1 - Ps1 - Me and a good friend got this game the day it came out and spent the next two days beating it heeh, was sooooo godo at the time! We where both so drawn into the atmosphere, graphics and fun factor!
#8 - Ultima Online - The best MMO of all time, and i just enjoyed this game so much when i was younger. When my friend first got this game i spent so much time over there watching him play it and taking turns trying it myself. Awesome and underrated game i must say! This game just did everything right imo, besides a horrible launch.
#9 - General Chaos - Sega Genesis - masterpeice Sega game, that had awesome 4 player action with friends! One of the best console multiplayer games ever at least in my opinion!
#10 - Deus Ex/Crysis - Two totally differnt games, but two legendary FPS games imo. Deus Ex was jsut so original and unique the first time i played it. I was so blown away and pulled into the games sotry and atmosphere. Not to mention it had some great gameplay! As for Crysis, i didnt get this game the day it came out, but i tried it at some friedn and loved it. Then about half a year later i built a new computer and bought Crysis. Needless to say with my 300$ soundcard and the new 24" Widescreen monitor i got, i was BLOWN AWAY! The graphics where awe inspiring, but the gameplay, atmosphere and presentation just blew me away! The sound was so sick on my new sound card i just couldnt belive it! Plus Crysis has/had the best map editor ever!
please post your memories of day1/week one gaming missions!
