lol chill out i was just getting a discussion going... yes im sure no cow has ever said MGS4 will be the best game ever w/o playing it... also based on what all the critics are saying the story is excellent...

From what I'e played, probably Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
Then again, The Witcher has been awesome so far - I can only assume that the story will get even more awesome once I start discovering the consequences of my actions.
Does it really matter? Next year's Gray matter will make them all look like a joke anyway.AdrianWerner

i did't say best... i said best "nextgen" game... also if u disagree feel free to point out a different game... also technically i never said mass effect has the best story ever... i simply said "mass effect here we come"......

Are u talking about MGS4? Cause it doesn't count, its too good no one will understand it.
MGS4 will surely have great story...by action genre standarts. Gray Matter will have great story by ANY standarts :) I like Kojima, but as a storyteller he's an amateur compared to Jane Jansen
As for Bioshock...it had a good story, but the plot twist was totally predictable (moreso if you played System Shock 2 first). Also, the endings were fairly poor...

Quite a few people say Mass Effect has the best story to ever grace a video game, other than that, Im not sure. I haven't played a next gen game that has wowed me with it's story.

Agreed. However it's not so much the game story, but the backstory to the world of rapture. The Audio Diaries and flashbacks do more for the story then any cutscenes would have.
uncharted and RFOM I really liked, and then there is BIOSHOCK!!!!!!! actually I like alot of games storylines gears was pretty cool and although it was cliche it was still fun to play out dead rising halo 3 was the same story as the other 2 halos pretty much (go destroy some crazy ring/ forrunner machine things) but if I didnt know about halo 1 and 2 then it would be up there aswell, I love video games this gen
