next im going to start playing eternal sonata.

KOTOR came out four years ago, so it shouldn't be on the poll.

Anyway, the best recent RPG has been The Witcher.

persona 3 ,lol that game is repetative as hell.the dungeons suck, and the game is just a simulator.

I don't know if you mean biggest as in like most IN THE GAME or biggest as in popularity. I meant as in popularity. Biggest isn't necessarily best, but in this case I believe these 4 are still better candidates than Eternal Sonata (being bigger and better). They also scored higher except Mass Effect/KOTOR 2, though Mass Effect still has an extremely high ranking on Gamerankings and KOTOR 2 does too (plus KOTOR 1 is bunched with it). Whatever lol, just accept the poll.

Hey a poll is just a poll, nothing more, nothing less. I just feel like great games like that are overshadowed by not bad but a bit overrated games. Eh, what are you going to do..

Seems to me that he's one of the JRPG fans that care about story more so then actual gameplay, things that Atlus concentrates on. To us it may seem awesome because it had deep or to say the least polished and challenging gameplay, but for those who wanted a Final Fantasy epic they'd get annoyed by the dungeon crawling. That said IMO Persona 3 and Final Fantasy XII aren't even in the same league.

My best favorite recent RPG is Kingdom Hearts II. Other then the gameplay being unbalanced and a little to much button mashing, it still a great RPG.

Oblivion sucked. It was such a huge dissapointment coming from Morrowind.

My vote would have to go to Kotor.

Are you saying that Enchanted arms is one of the best recent RPGs, and actually better than some of the games on your list??? Echanted Arms?!?!? Seriously?? Is it because your 5 year old brother wrote all the dialogue that you like it so much??

Pokemon for me.

I've put in 200+ hours into Oblivion, 150+ hours into Final Fantasy 12, and at the end of the day, I didn't get the same, rewarding feeling as I do when I play Pokemon.

Gotta catch'em all!

From worst to best of recent RPGs I've played

FF12: New gameplay mechanics were excellent, but it was much weaker in story than many previous Final Fantasy. Apart from Balthier I didn't really like any of the characters.

Oblivion: A pale shadow of Morrowind, which was a pale shadow of Daggerfall. Still quite good when mods and thrown in, but a dissapointing turn in the series.

NeverWinter Nights 2: Obsidian, huge improvement over KOTOR 2! Few bugs at launch, but patches squashed these to create a great RPG.

Mass Effect: Excellent storytelling and characters, great atmosphere, awesome combat system. However, too much filler content.

The Witcher: Fantastic use of story, character and questioning of the good vs. evil morality system so common in WRPGs.

Also, why is KOTOR there? It was released 4 years ago.
