yeah, I can appriciate the innovation in mass effect, but stacked up against games like chrono trigger, chrono cross and final fantasy 6,7,9 it doesn't even compare

of the rpgs i've played i can't decide between final fantasy 7 and 9...

I'd say SRPGs, but since this is about RPGs I have to say I liked the first 4 final fantasy's the best.

But the winner is Tales of Symphonia.

Nobody seems to be mentioning Super Mario RPG. Chrono Trigger is the best IMO, but Super Mario RPG is an easy #2

Baldur's Gate 2 for me. God how I love that game.

I'd give it to FF6 or Chrono Trigger.

I wouldn't even give Mass Effect best RPG on X360 - I thought Oblivion was better, though I really like both.

I would go for any of these, I really don't have a "best" simply my mood changes so I just have a perfered list:

• Chrono Trigger
• Baldur's Gate II
• Fallout 2
• Xenogears
• Knights of the Old Republic
• The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
• Seiken Densetsu III
• Final Fantasy Tactics
• Suikoden II
• Star Ocean The Second Story
• Vagrant Story

And more... but would definitly add

Technically you are playing a role in Final Fantasy and as such they are roleplaying games, just of the most simple kind.

For Mass Effect to even be mentioned here is a travesty and a disgrace to gaming. It sickens me. There is no possible way it can compare to games other people are mentioning (Chono Trigger/Cross, Baldurs Gate, FF6/7, etc).

Edit- some of my favorite underrated ones: Dark Cloud 2, Legend of the Dragoon, Breath of Fire 3, Legend of Legaia, Golden Sun (maybe not that underrated).
