Advent Children... albeit even that was kind of lack luster, which saysa lot about the other crap out there. -RPGamer-
was gonna say this...def better than res evil, doom, silent hill, etc...
Silent Hill all the way ! Loved that movie.telefanaticMy name is Silent hill, and I am the one, I am be a one, and I am too a one *metal solo* I see you behind the mask, behind everything you try to prevail on me... but someday I will find the time to eat.... some time..... i will grow fat, not to confuse you, it will be shine fat..... the fat....... yes I will say that word.
Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, and Alone in the Dark. Hate on him if you want, but Uwe's a freakin genius behind the camera. I cant freakin' wait for the Dungeon Siege movie.gromit007
Tomb Raider.swamprat_basicI could think of two reasons why TR is one of the best video game movies...

Well, they are also devoid of any movie making skills or merit whatsoever. But one thing I will say is the 'shootout' in AITD that was built from still images could have been rather cool in the hands of a semi-talented movie making team.
Pretty much most of the videogame movies out their are corny. The director distorts the story and surrounding of the game; making everything unfamiliar or unrecognizable. Mario is one of them and the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Spirits Within actually was a potential attempt, but it was a America sc-fi movie.
Advent Children is closer to the anime genre. It actually did a fairly decent job at reconnecting the gamer with the world of Gaia. But it was the story that distorted things mainly because the original Final Fantasy VII on average was 50 hours long with twist and turns. What actually reconnected me more with FFVII had to be the little things. There was a sign indicating the direction to Midgar and the mythril town of Kalm along with Chocobo Farm. Not to mention the flashbacks of Zack Fair, and his grave site. The music is tied in well with the film. You heard remixes of J-E-N-O-V-A, One Wing Angel, The Great Nothern Cave, and more.
I think Silent Hill was great attempt to make a videogame movie. It's not perfect though. But I remember the first teaser for the film, and at first I thought I was actually watching a trailer for the next Silent Hill game. Even though it was trailer the director and studio were closely tied with Konami in the creation of the film. The director used the classical visual filters from Silent Hill to mask the video in a horrific image of distortation using quick clips.
There was even music from the game. I'm not talking about remixes, but the actual tracks from the Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3 OST. The OSTs for Silent Hill are know to be some of the best in the industry which they're composed by Akira Yamaoka. What Akira did was use a combination of direct tracks and songs from the game along with a few new pieces. The problem with Silent Hill is that it told its story too well. And because of that there was more story telling then actually scare time. The director almost forgot that it was a horror flick. Unlike the Resident Evil films, the Silent Hill movie looks like Silent Hill the videogame. And even sounds like Silent Hill thanks to Akira Yamaoka.
As a person who did not have fond memories of FF7 as a kid, Advent Children as a standalone was absolute crap. Even for a sequel, it just didn't have much in it. It was more fan service than anything, or as one fan put it, "the extended ending to FFVII".
Silent Hill was possibly the best. Even on its own merits, it was decent. I guess having a a visionary like Christopher Gans with Academy Award winning Roger Avery sure as hell did help.
Tomb Raider was alright. It was popcorn fun, but compared to Indiana Jones, it was laughable.
Ahhhh none?
Not as single one has done the game justice, which is a pity.
Heres hoping the MGS movie is awesome.

It'll be better off as anime, because essentially it is anime.
A Hollywood treatment would only give the public ***** and giggles.

True u are probably right.Heck the MGS digital comic for the PSP was awesome.... And the MGS2 Digital comic has full voice acting, so that'll be freaking amazing.
Yea much better an Anime.
silent hill is the only one of those films that could even be comsidered as a movie.
I havent seen AC though
 I'd forgotten about The Wizard. I loved that movie (but I didn't really understand the ending, because I was really young, and I saw it long after SMB3 came out :P ). And of course, it had the best line ever "I love the power glove. It's so... bad.".
I'd have to say that one of the best would be the original Tomb Raider movie.
