Best WRPG developer?

Close call between Bioware and Bethesda. Fallout 3 is my favorite RPG of all time, but Mass Effect and KOTOR are my favorite RPG series of all time.

Bioware, followed VERY closely by Obsidian.

Bioware hands down no contest, if this was 5 years ago, Blizzard would have the crown.

Anyone that has played Fallout 1,2 and Planescape knows that Black Isle Studios were the best, they also assisted with BG franchise. WTF with bioware you mention mass effect, but not never winter nights? You also do not mention Baldur's Gate 2... Anyway, none of those have delivered recently in the RPG department. Bioware: BG2 > Dragon age Kotor > Mass effect 2 Bethesda: Morrowind > Oblivion both Fallouts from black isle > Fallout 3 Blizzard: Diablo 2 boring( only played SP as necromencer till the desert) Guild Wars or Atlantica online > WOW Black isle studios: Is defunct now The only RPGs that i actually cared about this gen: The Witcher( CD Projekt RED STUDIO) Demon's Souls( From software) Guild Wars ( ArenaNet ) Atlantica Online ( NDOORS Interactive ) Valkyria Chronicles ( Sega Wow )methinksyou

NWN? That game was easily one of Bioware's worst games, so very dry compared to pretty much everything else they have done.

BioWare is great, I mean really great. But Black Isle is on a whole different level.

Its really hard choosing between Bioware and Bethesda,but I will say Bethesda for the rpg elements they took away from ME2.

Black Isle for sure. Even if they had developed only one game and that game was PS:T, I would still put them on top. PS:T is that good.

As much as i love BioWare, i have to go with black isle, there's not a better role playing experience outhere than Planescape and Fallout

Bioware. I've turned into a major fan of the Mass Effect games, and enjoy Dragon Age quite a bit. I'm gonna need to delve into the KOTOR games. Didn't really like the first KOTOR a long time ago, but I want to give it a 2nd chance now.

For people who like freedom, originality, and quality role playing content: Black Isle.

For people who like painstakingly developing romantic relationships with fictional extraterrestrials: Bioware.

While Bioware are truly excellent, they don't even come close to the greatness of Black Isle.

Black Isle, nuff said.

Bioware by a mile. One of the top 3 developers in the world irrespective of genre.

It was hard for me to pick between bioware and bethesda. Basically it came down to the fact Bioware's rpgs are more p&p based while bethesda isn't.

Of those listed:

BioWare = Black Isle > Bethesda > Blizzard.

If you would've asked me this last year I probably would've put Black Isle above BioWare, but ME2 was really, really impressive. They're doing an amazing job with this IP..can't wait for the next game.

Also, why is Blizzard even up there? Their only RPGs are an action/hack'n'slash franchise and a MMO. Their titles do not even remotely fit in with the others. I do like Blizzard's games more than Bethesda's, but Blizzard does not belong in this comparison, so I put them at the bottom..

Black Isle helped with the Baldurs Gate series (Bioware's best games by far), at least with the publishing of them, but they're still Bioware's games...so yeah, no idea what he meant by that.
