Bethesda teases new announcements; 'you will sit up and take notice'

Of all the long-established firms nurturing next generation console projects, the one I'm most anxious to hear from is Bethesda - custodian of three of gaming's greatest licenses in the shape of Doom, The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Speaking to us in the latest OXM podcast, company vice-president Peter Hines has hinted that announcements may happen soon.

"I think you'll hear us making considerably more noise this year than we did last year, as a publisher," he said. "Obviously the Elder Scrolls Online is out and we've got the Dishonored DLC, but we will be announcing new stuff and making some noise, and I think when we get the chance to show you guys what we're up to, that you'll sit up and take notice."

Naturally, Hines wasn't prepared to shed even the faintest ray of light on the games in question, but insisted that they would be worth the wait. "I think we're continuing to do the stuff that we get excited about, and people will get really excited about when they hear what we're up to, which is continuing to push the boundaries, reinvent - find really smart, passionate teams who know what they're doing and have an idea that they really want to do and do well.

"So who that is, and what they're doing is to TBD but, when I'm next in London to do this, hopefully we'll be able to talk more and gauge your reaction."OXM

Fallout 4? Elder Scrolls VI?

A Fallout or an Elder Scrolls on the PS4 sound unbelievably wonderful, and I would love to see that, the latter (much, much, much) more than the former.

At this point, I'd like Fallout 4 the most, while some news about Prey 2 would be welcomed as well.

As for TES IV, I think it's far too soon, I'd prefer to have more time between TES games...

I can't wait to see The Elder Scrolls VI on next gen hardware, but i wan't bethesda to take their time.

I foresee a Fallout 4 announcement.

Bethesda will of course put their famous formula to work:

-pseudo-rpg mechanics

-meaningless superficial choices

-linearity in a franchise supposedly centering around choice

-committing heinous acts such as murder will quickly be forgotten within a few days

I so wanted Obsidian to be involved with this game.............

Do we really need a new Fallout or Elder scrolls already? C'mon people these a great devs ask for something new.

WTH are you talking about?

New Vegas came out in 2010 and Skyrim in 2011. Whichever game it will be won't be out till 2014.

I've been sitting down a lot so I don't remember how to sit up.

It's too soon for Elder Scrolls and Doom 4 isn't far enough along.

It's probably just gonna be Fallout 4...which is really awesome news :D

We might even see a new Fallout Tactics. It seems odd that they wouldn't take advantage of the franchise after seeing how good XCOM was.

I am really getting sick and tired of people using bugs as a bludgeon against Bethesda. The type of games Bethesda makes are comparable only to MMOs in terms of complexity and scope, and every MMO on the planet has bugs. Every game on the planet has bugs.

Well it's been said more than once the game was in a spot of trouble and we have seen almost nothing of the game so I would say it's true.

But yeah right now it's nothing but rumours. Maybe they're duping us :P
