Sony, theres no debate there. When we bring Nintendo into the discussion is where things become more questionable (Nintendo is perceived as the first-party heavyweight but I'm not sure Sony can't compete with and in some cases beat their development studios).
P.S. To those of you saying Microsoft you are certainly free to your opinions on the matter, but objectively Sony is the stronger first-party developer.Â
what did microsoft make again? microsoft are know for buying franchises and calling it there own. i cant think of a game microsoft actually made... brute force? Rahnyc4Well to be fair, all companies have bought up at least of their first-party support. Sony has bought up quite a few studios itself the first I believe being Psygnosis (now known as Studio Liverpool) and that continues to pay dividends. The difference with Sony though is that they have rarely purchased studios in the process of developing a potentially "must-have" IP. The only example I'm aware of is Guerilla and thats one of their few first-party investments which has yet to pay off very well for them.
Come on guys.lowmank79What games does Sony make? The only good ones I can remember are Ratchet & Clank, ICO, Gran Turismo and God of War. Microsoft Game Studios has made Gears of War, PGR3, Forza, Halo, Fable, Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark Zero, MechAssault, and Kameo to name a few. The future lineup looks weak for Sony now. Microsoft has a very strong one this year.
Ok, well help me out, what games are first party? The way I see it Halo is not. God of War is. Crackdown? Ratchet and Crank? Jak? MechAsault? Are Bungie and Rare 1st or 2nd? Back in the day it was so easy. Now it's not so. And you are not swaying me on a system, I've made my choice.lowmank79Bungie and Rare are 1st party. Microsoft owns those studios. Also, any game that is published by Sony or Microsoft and is exclusive to the system is 1st party. For example, Ninety-Nine Nights was developed by Phantagram and Q, but published and funded by Microsoft. That is a 1st party game. The same goes for Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.
to be honest i can't think of any Microsoft 1st party games, and the only one i can think of for sony is GoW, so i'll go with Sony:Ddante_123456How about Halo or Gears?

Games developed by Sony= 1st party
Games developed by Microsoft= 1st party
But sometimes they might have a different developer work on the game as well like some Nintendo games. Â

By this measure Sony has tons of first-party studios and it also has some very notable second-party developers (games published by manufacturer but not owned). First party: Naughty Dog Studio Liverpool Studio Santa Monica Clap Hanz Incognito Polyphony Digital Zipper Interactive Team ICO Bend Studio Japan Studio Guerilla Games 2nd party: Level 5 Insomniac Thats not a complete list either.

gears isnt 1st party.
If it isn't, then why does the "Microsoft Games Studios" logo splash on the screen when I play Gears?[QUOTE="lowmank79"]Come on guys.Berserker_2What games does Sony make? Microsoft has a very strong one this year. Not a single game was made by MS studios. They were either published by MS studios and made by other developers or they were made by developers bought by MS. Meant on the 360. Tons of games for the PC from MS studios. Now, while I guess we can count the ones bought by MS. I'd like to see one game made inhouse. Edit : Berserker, you obviously don't understand the 1st, 2nd, 3rd party deal going on. Gears is second party because Epic (Who made the game) isn't owned by MS.
Sony has undoubtedly made some terrific games. They have alot of experience and alot of studios to work with.
Microsoft is relatively new at this, but is coming along nicely. Quite a few very good 1st and 2nd party games have come from MS already. The future looks bright for them.
Overall though, Sony's experience and great past games make them the winner. But MS is no slouch, don't forget that Sony fans! ;)
Sony: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Twisted Metal, SOCOM, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, MotorStorm, Resistance, SingStar, Destruction Derby, WipEout, Warhawk among others.Uptown
to add more
eight days, uncharted, afrika, the getaway, white knight, genji, the eye of judgement, everybodys golf, killzone, sly copper, eye toy, f1, heavenly sword, little big planet, untold legend,
did i forget something im pretty sure i did.....
vs.... microsoft
halo, fable, pgr, pdz, forza, viva pinata, halo wars, kameo,
its clear who is the winner in 1st 2nd party
SONY

gears isnt 1st party.
because they published the game for a 3rd party game studio epic
epic is not owned by microsoft nor they are 2nd party means owned by microsoft and independent
microsoft only has the rights of publishing the the first 2 gears of war games
ITS NICE TO SEE MICROSOFT CATCHING UP BUT SONY IS EXPANDINGÂ
lmao I can't believe someone said Gears of War
Look I love both my Ps3 and 360
Im looking at last generation and its Sony hands down
Sony: God of War 1&2, Shadow of Colossus, Gran Turismo, Socom series enough said lol I could go on
Microsoft: hmmmm Halo which was....overrated, but I absolutely loved Fable
Â
MS' only 1st party titles are XP and Vista and they both suck.Boba_Fett_3710
XP and Vista are OSs, not titles.
But just for the heck of it, what OS are you using right now?Â

You are not a gamer! So seeing that your a nintendo and MS fanboy if Halo or Mario where to go to Sony as a frist party you would hate them then, HUH!?:roll:MS, i don't like any Sony 1st party game
Nintendo_Man
[QUOTE="Downplays"]Sony does. Better than MS and Nintendo combined easily.psyko7144
Can't use GOW huh? Scared of the truth? Gran Turismo comes to mind. Or maybe SotC? Do I need to go any further?
