Better action adventure series, Unchartered or Tomb Raider?

Even tho Unchartered trilogy is fairly new compared to iconic Tomb Raider games, its become top action adventure series now amongst gamers. My question is which is better adventure series currently, Unchartered or Tomb Raider series? :)

Ummm i personally prefer Tomb Raider Trilogy ( Legends, Anniversary, Underworld) over Unchartered Trilogy. BUT i prefer Unchartered 1 and 2 over Tomb Raider 2013 anyday. Unchartered 3 left a very wrong impression of the series on my mind.

I prefer the Tomb Raider Trilogy. The reboot plays a lot like Uncharted and I just prefer the old style. Prince of Persia is my favorite for these types of games though.

Excluding the new ones , Tomb Raider , even the Diablo style ones are fun.

Uncharted looks better, has better acting and animations and set pieces. Tomb Raider plays a whole lot better and offered a little exploration. I enjoyed Tomb Raider more than any Uncharted game and the new one looks way more fun to play than another setpiece after setpiece Uncharted game.

Yeah. Tomb Raider 2013,Legends, Underworld are also in same mould if less Heh. Only Anniversary remained faithful in puzzle solving with bits of action with specially bosses :)

The Uncharted man sits behind a wall shooting men garnering awards for having cutscenes, in many ways, it serves as a symbolic example of the downward spiral gaming has become.

Uncharted easily. In fact, the new Tomb Raider series, is nothing, but a poorly realized clone of the UC series. Make Tomb Raider Great Again should be gamers campaign for a worthy TR revival. :P

Story wise and acting, Uncharted no doubt. Tomb Raider is cliche and B movie, like the male lead antagonists devil worshipper, the weird friend who is obviously a spy... Etc cliche.

However I love tomb raider for the openness exploration freedom and RPG elements upgrading weapons etc.

I don't know about Tomb Raider, but I wouldn't categorize Uncharted as an action adventure series. It's gameplay is 50% shooter and 50% the equivalent of cinematic walking. I'd say it's a shooter.

If we're talking about overall legacy, Tomb Raider. The older games had a great balance of action and puzzle solving. Nowadays though, considering they both consist of little to no puzzles, and off the wall action set pieces, Uncharted reigns superior.

Old Tomb Raider games (with exploration) >> Uncharted Trilogy >> Tomb Raider Reboot (Uncharted clone)

TR has had 3 very very crap games and even though I adore the classic series it is very outdated.

TR 2013 and RoTR aren't even TR.

Both are extremely mediocre, but Uncharted is the more overrated series have 1 good game and 2 mediocre one's.

uncharted 2 is leagues ahead of any tomb raider game. 1 and 3 are better as well, but not to the degree 2 is.

Love both but prefer Uncharted. Is more colourful, more tongue in cheek and has more interesting characters. TR sometimes tries to be serious but completely fails at it

Uncharted 2 is the best game between the two franchises, but it's the only good Uncharted game out of the 3 as far as I'm concerned. I maybe would lean towards Tomb Raider Anniversary being good, but that's it, as a series Tomb Raider used to do the adventure stuff way the **** better than Uncharted, and then the reboot was like nah, we good, we action now.

So there you go.

+1. For all their production values, the Uncharted games just aren't much fun to play when the actual 'gameplay' happens.

I've only played the TR reboot and just based on that game I prefer it over the UC series.

I like both games, story and character wise uncharted is better, gameplay wise they are different, tomb raider is more puzzle/exploration focused where uncharted is more action focused. I like both, but its whatever you prefer

Tomb Raider series by far. The adventuring in Uncharted is more like only a story theme since gameplay wise there is hardly anything there, it's all shooting and QTE's or cinematic cutscenes. The same goes for Tomb Raider reboot.

Doesn't Tomb Raider have more entries? It has a longer time in the gaming landscape and I enjoyed them from time to time.

Uncharted 2 destroys every TR game ever made so therefore Uncharted wins by default. TR is still a great series though but it can't compete with Uncharted hence the reason it has been reduced to being an Uncharted clone.

Uncharted is not an action-adventure series, but it's a straight-up action game series. To be an action-adventure, it needs adventure game elements like exploration, which Uncharted has very little of.

Since Tomb Raider is an actual action-adventure series, that wins by default out of those two. Regardless of whether Uncharted is a better series overall, Tomb Raider is the better action-adventure series.

Either way, the best action-adventure series is Zelda.

Cows vs hermit & lems = this thread. Pretty clear since most of the people saying Tomb Raider are vocal PlayStation haters who never owned a PS3 or never played an uncharted game.

How about you stop with the "vs" threads. Its getting annoying. We've seen these "sony franchise vs xbox/multiplatform franchise" enough

I own two PS3s and one PS4. The first Uncharted was good, the second and third were crap, Tomb Raider was much better. You sound like you never owned anything but a playstation!

Tomb Raider. Uncharted barely qualities as action-adventure. It's mostly action. At least the older TR games had plenty of nice puzzles.

If somebody would ask which is better series the answer might be different, but better action-adventure? No contest.

Uncharted is cliche/B movie as well. It just benefits from incredible voice acting and facial animation.

None of the Tomb Raider games are good, and the only good Uncharted game is UC2.

So Uncharted wins by having at least one good thing about it.

UC2 and UC3 are better than any of the TR games. UC and GA are moderate-to-good, which is where most of the TR series resides IMO.

Pointing out the obvious Isn't salty but your response to my post falls in line with your typical way of catching feelings when someone points outthese threads by salty lem/herms aimed at trying to knock high rated Sony franchises with bias fanboy Sw opinion. This thread is "salty" so why would I be when it's just silly when most haven't played both francheses but at least sony fans could? Never mind lol. I think you should buy the TR reboot, I think you'd really enjoy it. It's way better than UC, one of the best games ever going by SW, you should buy now :)

It does look rather good; I like UC way better than old Tomb Raider, so the change in style from the old games won't bother me. Planning to buy when I have some extra paper.
