You think Microsoft would go out of business if they stopped making physical Xbox consoles?

Do you know what Microsoft does?

Or are we talking about the PlayStation and Xbox divisions? Microsoft would keep the Xbox brand as a software portal for PC gaming, but it likely wouldn't be very successful.

PlayStation... they could make it as a third party developer, definitely... people would buy Naughty Dog games wherever they end up... hard to say how healthy Sony would be, as a whole, if PlayStation hardware did go under, though.

Microsoft would easily dominate with great francises like Titanfall, Halo, and Forza.

I think Microsoft would be fine.

Microsoft already has both BYO hardware (PC gaming) and game console (XBO) business models.

Sony already exited the PC market.

Microsoft would prevail no doubt.

I think both would probably be successful seeing as how they both have their exclusives that people love. I think SONY would probably make out a bit more successful than Microsoft though.

I feel Sony would probably fare better. But who knows. If there's one thing I've learned about the video game industry, it is completely unpredictable.

If you had told someone in the PS2 gen that the PS3 would be Sony's fall from grace, you would have been laughed at. Look where everyone stands now.

If Sony keeps their ND, SM, Guerilla, JPN Studios, etc. and make their games and future games available to PC, Switch, Mobile? I think Sony might have the potential to have just as much profit if not better.

I'd go back to more frequent upgrades for the next high budget iterations of God of War, Last of Us, Horizon, Freedom Wars, etc. for the PC

Sony would do better as a third party game publisher I feel, although I also feel that the diversity of their output would greatly suffer.

sony is much better than microsoft. microsoft phones are garbage and even not good in looks. but sony phones are wonderful in looks and performance. simple website like https://www.onlinejobsform.in/ is not open on microsoft mobile. while on sony. it open with in a second.

I mean, if Sony has to get out of the hardware business then its more likely that Sony would go out of business entirely. The playstation division is pretty much all they have right now

The Gaming industry is dependent on three console makers in the market. If one of them goes, the gaming business is going to crash!

I don't think Microsoft would go out of business. I think Microsoft as part of the videogame business will go the way of Sega. Same with Sony.

I understand that MS is very successful in other areas and this will not affect that. Same for Sony's efforts outside of gaming.
