So Metal Gear Solid 4 is out, but as we've reported before, it isn't the last Metal Gear game.
Kojima Production's Ryan Payton explains, "There are some misunderstandings that this is the final Metal Gear game. But it's really the final chapter of the Solid Snake story. That's all."
What's left to do? Well, according to Payton, there is "still a lot of room for filling in the gaps as far as Big Boss is concerned."
But will we see another game with Big Boss as the protagonist? Hit the break for my thoughts, but there are spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 4 beyond this point.
I'm thinking that Payton could be being sneaky about the gaps regarding Big Boss. One of them could be the story of how his body was recovered and ended up with Eva. If you recall from MGS4, this was kind of glazed over and not really detailed. At least, not to the degree that everything else was explained.
We also have Raiden, whose role in MGS4 is mysterious and brief, as far as characters go. There was a lot of action that we missed like his transformation into the cybernetic ninja, rescue of Sunn,y and his retrieval of Big Boss' body.
I'm guessing we could see a "prequel" of Raiden's story between MGS2 and MGS4.
Big Boss' army building fun was already covered in Portable Ops, but we could see his creation of Outer Haven. Now that we know he ultimately wanted to uphold The Boss' dream a game about Big Boss' creation of his mercenary society could be viewed in a positive light. Previously, it would have been playing as the bad guy.
What do you think Metal Gear Solid 5 will be about?

If Microsoft was smart enuff, they would dip inside of the piggy bank now to try and this this on the 360 after seeing what MGS4 did.
