no it cant be cause the wiii version came firstIt was designed for the gamecube and lazily ported over. It even has GC graphics. It's a last gen game no matter how its spun.
Twilight Princes, this place was a zoo, and that game was soooooooo dissapointing especially after Wind Wakers brilliance.
Twilight Princess is only considered a flop here, it was actually a great addition to the franchise and people are doing the same thing they did with Wind Waker, the amount of Wind Waker threads you used to see calling it Celda and Nintendo betraying their fanbase and now it is put up on a pedestal. Im sure there would have been a lot less complaints if it had looked on the same level as Fable 2 aswell, thats unfortunately what a lot of it boils down to even if people don't want to admit it.
This.It was just terrible. Almost as bad as how things were when Halo 3 didnt flop.If you were around to see the Twilight Princess flop I don't know how you could disagree that the Twilight Princess flop was larger. It was insane here.
Although, Twilight Princess is one of my favorite games of all time. Loved it.

If your talking score, yes the game flopped here. Than again other sites like Game Trailers gave it their GOTY. Then named as one of the best games of this gen. For the introduction of many different game mechanics.I would say Twilight Princess because it had the much bigger backlash;
- It was practically hyped a AAAA
- The Wii Version actually scored .1 lessthan the Gamecube version.
- Sheep cried for Gerrtsman head to be put on a platter, and to this day is still accused of being biased against Nintendo games
- It even got a freakin tvtropes page named after it.
The biggest thing that spurred from FFXIII was major cow damage control over it going multiplat.

Fair enough. Doesn't make it a current gen game though.
I love Zelda but I'll just go with TP because I never finished it. XIII on the other hand, had me pretty hooked.

Ookami easily outclassed TP in 2006. Several other games as well, including FFXII.

This right here. Once again the Zelda fanbase is doing what they did with Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask before it. TP was an excellent game, and just because it flopped here, doesn't mean the vast majority thought that. FFXIII, I have no idea, but scores throughout multiple sites, and just from word of mouth, give me the impression it did not reach expectations.
Final Fantasy XIII. It was a universal flop, scoring far below expectations everywhere and averaging an 83. Twilight Princess on the other hand... well it flopped here an dgot an 8.8... but it averaged a 95 on Wii and 96 on GC... that's higher than almost any game this entire gen and one of the highest rated of all time.

Really that's funny because the critics say the exact opposite. On Metacritic it garnered higher acclaim than either Okami (93) or Final Fantasy XII (92). In fact the irony of calling Twilight Princess a flop, is not only is it scoring higher than all these games you mention, but looking at Metacritic's "Best of '06", the Gamecube version was THE highest scoring game of the year, while the Wii version was the second highest scoring . Outscored Oblivion (94) and Gears of War (94), the next two highest scoring, among many others. Consider yourselves owned TP haters.Twilight Princess would have been much better if it had come out when it was supposed to-- a year before the Wii's launch. All the stuff they added to the game later on did not make the overall experience better, and in many ways detracted from it. You ended up getting tons of useless crap in the dungeons that you would never use again, and the in game economy was broken since they had that stupid armor that literally burned money while you wore it and they had to give you tons of easy cash to compensate for it. Also, there was the problem of how the world was giant feeling and yet relatively barren. There really wasn't a lot to do in Hyrule outside of the main quest. Nintendo should have made there be fewer dungeons and had more side quests for the player to uncover and explore at their leisure. Also, by the time the game came out, our quality expectations were getting too darned high. Even if the game had come out on time I think people still would have felt burned that the game had cheap synth music instead of an actual orchestra and that they used crappy text boxes for dialogue instead of shelling out for voice actors, but given that it came out at the same time as Oblivion which was full of quality voice acting and recorded music, it felt like a throwback to the N64 which is not what I or many other gamers were hoping for. It wasn't until I actually bought the game that I realize just how much of a negative impact low-production value audio can have on a game. When I started playing, it was like "yeah, this is a Zelda game, they never have voice acting," but after a few hours it made me realize what a bunch of BS that is. This is the 21st century for crying out loud, not the SNES.Timstuff
Yet as I said it was still the #1 highest scoring game of the year and one of the top rated games of the whole generation. Once again System Wars proves how isolated from the real world it truly is.

Ok.... now explain to me why your opinion on which is the better game matters more than the actual consensus. I think they are pretty equally good, though these days I'd replay Twilight Princess before Okami. Regardless of what you said, saying it "easily outclassed" it is absurd seeing as it scored higher and was considered the better game, even with the ridiculous expectations.[QUOTE="hakanakumono"][QUOTE="oldkingallant"] Really that's funny because the critics say the exact opposite. Okay so in your opinion it wasn't amazing... but the general consensus is that it was a fantastic game, and according to critics, the best game of the year. We are talking about flops, no one asked "Do you like Legend of Zelda: TP? Is it the best game of 2006?", so the thread does not beg your opinion on the game.Well that's because it's multiplat and there was less ownage to be had since Sheep are the quietest of the bunch and didn't rub it in everyone's face.I wasnt here during the TP fiasco, but the aftermath of that flop is still talked about to this day. Eh the thing about Zelda is its one of those series where reviewers are going to throw on a large score because its called "Zelda." If they changed a few of the characters names, and looks, but kept the exact same game I guarantee TP would have scored much less.On a different note I clicked on a link at the top of the page listing the 10 most surprising boss fights in gaming, and Ganondorf from TP was on the list....Seriously if you are surprised by Ganondorf in a Zelda game you are pretty much an idiot.

TP got 8.8 here at Gamespot when it was hyped 10. Its GS's critical opinion that counts here, not the almighty mass of average fanboy and mediocre review site ratings.lol you didnt list halo 3,
but that right there is my choice or alan wake
those are the biggest flops ! alan wake was announced at launch for cryin out loud ,, and pd0 could be nominated as well since thats moved from gc to xbox to xbox360
TP isn't a flop anymore. It's 9.0 now, AAA.
Mogotoo
It's still an 8.8. GS didn't change their old reviews because of the new rating system.
I don't see a 9.0 anywhere...Well, it should be. It isn't fair otherwise. It's easier now for a game to get a 9 now. Why can't older games like TP get this pass? Because of higher standards.[QUOTE="mitu123"][QUOTE="Mogotoo"]TP isn't a flop anymore. It's 9.0 now, AAA.Mogotoo

And it would be 8.5 using the new system as reviews are done the same way but the scores are rounded down, not up.Yeah, I thought the game looked great, although I still haven't purchased a copy. I plan on getting it for the Gamecube eventually, but Gamestop is still selling that joker for 34.99! I go in there with intentions of buying it, but end up coming out with a 29.99 360 title. Can people still not get over TP getting an 8.8? Seriously 0.2 more and it wouldn't have flopped, yes the reaction was big which still amazes me people got that carried away over it but seriously how is it or FF13 the biggest flop ever? What about Lair, AA hype to only get a 4.5 and it still had a huge reaction.
St_muscat
I actually expected more out of Twilight Princess then what is expected so to me it was the bigger flop.
which do you think broke more fans's hearts?
hylianhobo13
I hated both, but FF13 takes it easilly, Zelda was a good game, easy and casual but good, FF13 is hands down one of the worst, most tedious and indifferet games i have played in years
I think Twilight Princess. I have read that the forums went crazy when GS put the score. As for FF, fans were quite annoyed when Square announced it would go to 360 but it wasn't such an uproar. Miroku32
which i don't understand b/c originally FF was Nintendo exclusive.
