I liked it but I know for a fact that this game has a very polarized audience; you either love this game or you hate it.Shenmue_JehutyAgreed. Never before I HaveI seen such mixed opinions on a game
We have sites like GS and game trailers who loved it....and then we have sites like IGN and 1up who thrashed it.
Ass. Creed didn't do too bad. Lair, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm. Those smells like flops to me. Or the PS3 itself.,V_Isle
Mazel tov? Looks like you broke your bet if thats still going on.
And Assassin's Creed definately sucked. It had tons of potential but they ruined it because in the end climbing buildings and running around is pointless.

Heavenly Sword and Motorstorm did not flop fanboy.
Meh, I really like Assassin's Creed. BioShockOwnz
As do I. I can overlook its repetitiveness because of what it brings to the table. And I'm really not getting tired of assassinating Templars either...

They did worse than the buzz surrounding the games would make you believe. Don't use the stupid rating system because fanboys either vote low so their games don't flop, or fanboys of opposing systems vote AAAA so they do. Although they are both quality titles, they nowhere near matched the buzz connected with their names. At least Heavenly Sword anyways.
That game was so flawed... The stealth/mixing in feature was broken, givin after the third assassination you can beat almost everything they throw at you without any effort. The assassinations were the only good parts of the game, it seems most of the rest was just thrown in to make the game seem longet then it really was.Guiltfeeder566
It's a disappointment but still very enjoyable and nowhere near the worst game of the year.chutup
Doesn't flop mean the biggest disappointment, and not the worst game?

True. I also liked it. I know the game was quite repetetive but I still enjoyed most of it, what really kept me hooked was the story, especially the ending..

I didn't really keep track because I was going back and forth from other titles but if I had to guess about 6-8 hours, not too long.
didnt gamexpot say it has really high replay value...? maybe it was gameInformer (imo more reliable) but I've literally milked the game by finding 10,000 flags and killing all templars and you know what I got...? bowl of NOTHING plus I stop liking the game 3 hours in tiger35010
AC is my game of the year. It made uncharted outdated before it even came out.
The freedom to explore the enviroment in a natural way, if something looked like you could grab onto it or climb it you could, really changed the way I look at platformers.
I really think it was the biggest revolution in games this year.
Unfortunatly it seems like I'm the only one :|

both hyped AAA here. neither scored AAA here.
Biggest flop? Nah... Although for me it was the biggest disappointment. Repetitive, and also unrealistic in the way you have to walk at a snail's pace most of the time to avoid being red flagged with "ASSASSIN! GET HIM!"
Do normal everyday people never run in this AC world? Do they even walk fast? I mean even on a horse you can't gallop without being red flagged. Evidently only assassins run.

here they are more bias than anything towards the ps3 (minus the big existing franchises), gs scores hardly account for much anymore, when it comes to anything not on the xbox. the only true flaw about hs was its length, which was clearly stated by the reviewer (which i agree with) but then they contradict themselves by giving so many other overhyped, way too short games, huge scores. that said hs was disappointing but considering everything its doing well, in terms of sales and reviews. hardly the definition of a flop. motorstorm apparantly did well aswell and i dont recall much hype about it.
still, this guy is an idiot, he's right but that hardly makes ac a bigger disappointment than lair. did he not play lair?

.... not on GS...

I never had any problems with that as the gameplay actually is lots of fun, the graphics are beautiful and the environments really atmospheric. Either way, to call it FOTY for being bothered by its mission design is so overreactive. How about LAIR, which flaw basically renders the game unplayable?
And to answer his question, I've played it for probably 20 hours.
assassins creed was pure crap i rented it through gameflyThis guy has some points actually, rofl

Stealth-horsing is indeed nonsense. I have no idea why galloping was punishable by death in the 1100's. Running making you look suspicious makes some sense at least. And it's only after some sort of crime has been committed.
During my first few ventures into The Kingdom I was very cautious, abided by the game's weird rules and "blended" my way past the guards and went faster when there was no one in sight. Eventually someone spotted me performing the heinous crime of going fast on my horse. This happened quite a few times until I finally snapped and started killing everyone I saw. That'll teach them, I thought. But there are like 500000 guards out there, it'd take forever to kill everyone. So the solution is to simply not give a crap and just run through everything and everyone. Which is the way it should've been in the first place. This is a very weird design decision. There are a couple of those in the game, but ultimately I don't think they distract too much from the equally plentiful areas the game excels in.

It just makes rofl when you kill a guard infront of a nother guard and BLEND. The other guard will be like "WHO DID THIS???"

Really? I think its fun.
What were you expecting? You're playing as an Assassin in ancient times? You want to drive around in a car or something?
This game advertised its focus on free running since it was first shown...

Well, you have to realize that you are running around with weapons while being dressed similar to a monk. Those two things don't add up.
The developers were trying to put an emphasis on the stealth aspect of the game so that you wouldn't go through it by killing everybody outright because thats not what an Assassin is supposed to do.
They should have made the combat a lot more unforgiving though, to detract from openly fighting even more.
Whatever, I think its one of the best games of 07.
