Which online game is everyone going to be playing this generation?
Brawl
Halo 3
Last gen it was a Blizzard game and this gen it's going to be a Blizzard game. Starcraft 2 FTW.
Aside from that, between the two games presented, SSBB will have the strength in longevity and community. Halo 3 will have the number initially but then it will shift over to games like Gears 2 and even Halo Wars.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say SSBB. Now, I know, Halo 3 will likely be better because of the godly matchmaking and the usual wealth of options, but SSBB is simply the more important of the two. Last-gen the GameCube just didn't have the capabilities to pull off online features, and despite the improvements made on the Wii it's still seriously underwhelming. If Nintendo can get SSBB -- arguably the most anticipated game to make the jump online -- to work, then it'll be nothing short of breathtaking.

That was last gen.
its expansion is this gen as will future expansions be. And if not WoW then WoS or some other MMORPG[QUOTE="Redmoonxl2"][QUOTE="SpideR_CentS"]World of Warcraft SpideR_CentS
That was last gen.
its expansion is this gen as will future expansions be. And if not WoW then WoS or some other MMORPGSo if Bungie released another Halo 2 Map Pack at stores next week, that counts as this gen?
See how that point of view has it flaws?
If Starcraft 2 releases this generation that will be the best, I would vote for SSBB but I fear it will be kept from its potential by the Wii online service and friend codes
Halo 3 will be one of the best, but I don't think it will be as good as Halo 2 was by last gen standards since now there will be more competition
Halo 3 based on those 2 choices. But Powerstone 3 will own all MP. (Still got hope.)waynehead895
lol poor guy...I really wish it happens just so you'll get to play it.
Halo will have more online players. Simple as that.

For how long is the real question. The 360 has done a much better job than the original Xbox when it came to online gaming selection. It's just a wonder if the release of Gears of War 2 and Halo Wars will spread out those gamers who would be playing Halo 3.
Its hard to judge from just those 2 games, because they are completely different games and we haven't seen any online Wii games yet...
I'd just pick Halo 3 because of how well done Halo 2 was over Xbox Live.
And what about Quake Wars, Unreal Tournament 3, and Team Fortress 2?
[QUOTE="muscleserge"]ammmmmm.......Crysis, from a theoretical point, but UT3 from a proven point._en1gma_
I doubt Crysis can compete with Halo 3 in the poularity in online gaming category. Even UT3.
XBL has what 3-4 mil gold subscribers, if 75% of PC gamers buy Crysis and play online it will be bigger than counter-strike, which is bigger than halo. However Crysis has a very good chance to outperform halo in multiplayer( IMO single player too but it isn't being discussed). Please Log In to post.
