Sigh....practically the sadest moment in Lost Odyssey. Don't watch it if you don't want to.

Second, especially since even knowing it was coming, it was incredibly depressing.Crisis Core.

I wonder how many "When Aeris/Big Boss died" posts were going to get in here....
For me, the biggest videogame tear-jerker was...nothing. I've never had a moment in gaming where I was nearly (or actually) brought to tears. There are a few that moved me greatly though, the most recent being the ending to HL:E2.

Yea man when his memories start flashing before his eyes while your playing. I was like dam and MGS series has alot of tearjerker moments.
Am I the only one who found that laughable, from the overdone voice acting to the terribly cliched character and ending of the Fox chartacter? I mean, *come on*... "I killed her parents and couldn't bring myself to kill her... She was like a little sister, since she never knew - but her stare just tormented me!" in that half-arsed Clint Eastwood voice. Is this really what people go on and on about with this series? All that does is remind me of why I thought MGS was bleh at best when I played it years ago and never looked back.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAOqc9k2Qk4

Its more of a in the moment thing. I was drawn in the MGS story and the characters thefore it did affect me. Now if I would just see this without having an context of anything then it wouldint do anything for me.
FF7 storyline is not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Aeris death was just another countless death in video games to me. Theverydeepend

whoah...you going to go kick some puppies later?...

its for the best. just go find some gerber babies, and small, talking woodland creatures.
Hehe. I gotta say that you won't find a game emotional unless you're attach to it and the characters. I played Final Fantasy VI and others previously before even receiving Final Fantasy VII back in 1997. I loved Final Fantasy VI, and it's one of my favorite RPGs. But honestly I think the smaller cast of Final Fantasy VII made it easier to become attach to Cloud and company. Was Aerith's death a shock to me? Yes. I have to admit it, I was not expecting her to die; for one reason she was always in my party. How about Zack's death in Crisis Core; memoriable...but when the J-Pop music cued it ended there(considering you have so many classic themes to choose from the FFVII OST).
For me, it has to be the moment when our hero in Lost Odyssey stumbles across his daughter. Then again that was pretty much the high point for the story; after that everything was so cliche(still a fun RPG though). The reality of it is, I am not going to get that lump in my throat while playing videogames. I haven't stumble across one that was serious and practical enough to have such a impact on myself. Everything is so Japanese.

This. Really, really well done.
I also was pretty moved by the end of FFX, actually.
I also was pretty moved by the end of FFX, actually.sonicmj1Yeah off my couch to complain on the internet about how bad it was
Castlevania: Lament of Innoceceneshadow of the colossi... i really almost cried when agro supposedly died
Sara Trantoul, now a vampire, sacrifices herself to empower the Vampire Killer in order to defeat Walter Bernhard.
Shadow of the Colossus
Agro's supposed death combined with Wander's final sacrifice, Mono's waking, Agro's limping return and "The Sunlit Earth."
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines
The death of your ghoul, Heather Poe, at the hands of the Sabbat.
Odin Sphere
Cornelius and Velvet's reuniting in the woods; Cornelius' assumption that Velvet will not love him because he is a Pooka and Velvet telling him she will love him no matter what he is.
Aside from Vampire (which was more a combination of rage and vengeance than it was "sadness"), the other three games have seen me break down into actually crying. Heck, I even accidentally spoiled the scene in Lament of Innocence and still I found myself bawling uncontrollably for a few seconds. Shadow of the Colossus gets me every time though... it is just so perfect and beautiful.foxhound_fox

When Zack died in FF7 CCgunit3000Oh my goodness. You could've placed a spoiler tag! Aw man...now it won't be as shocking when I get to that point...I'm sad now :( Thank you.
omg... i really dont want to insult anyone or be modded, but "tearjerking" on some melodramatic moments in MGS or FF is realy sad. I mean its like watching soap opera
Only times i want to cry ingame is when: - game is so boring and broke or game is really good and it makes me happy
Final Fantasy X's ending was the biggest tear jerker for me. It's one of the few games where I felt attached to the protagonist and it was so depressing to see Tidus fade away. The way it was done was amazing and so effective. The music with the piano tops it off. I believe it is Square Enix's finest job in making a game where I cared about each character so much.
Here's the sad ending:cry:

one of the best ever... you spend so much time bonding with the character, following the AMAZING background square set for the story, all the plot twists, everything you go through, all the feelings you experience, all to that one moment where tidus HAS to fade into the faiths... not tearjerking, but absolutely fantastic in every wayFinal Fantasy X's ending was the biggest tear jerker for me. Many moments in Lost Odyssey need to be credited. The Thousand Years of Dreams were all truly moving, making me feel for what Kaim was going through and making me like his character more and more.
And the moment you linked to I was on the verge of tearing up. And then I finally beat the game today, and wow... that ending was beautiful, saddening, yet perfectly executed.
Other moments of mine are not when you beat The Boss in MGS3, but during Eva's speech afterwards, telling what The Boss had gone through.
Final Fantasy X's ending would have been bigger had I not known it was coming already, but it was emotional still.
Shadow of the Colossus, most of the colossi, and then right before the final colossus. Anyone who has played through the game knows what I am talking about.
