Inferior version, premium price.

BioShock Switch ports listed by Taiwanese ratings board

Once again, the Taiwanese ratings board appears to have given us all a heads-up on an upcoming release - as the website has listed several BioShock titles for Nintendo Switch.

As spotted by LootPots, the website shows four listings: BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered, BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition and BioShock: The Collection. The latter contains all BioShock titles including DLC - but as the games have also been listed separately, it's possible these will be available for individual purchase.

While yet to be officially confirmed by Nintendo or publisher 2K, the discovery has further stoked rumours of an upcoming Nintendo Direct. We'll have to stay tuned to see if the ports are being released this sea-son.

@uninspiredcup: nah, being able to play these games in portable will be the superior way, these are last gen games anyway, they will play great on the switch

I remember way back when Ken Levine wanted to bring Bioshock to the PS Vita when Vita was still brand new. Ken Levine later admitted that it never really started development. He sort of said it as a favor to Sony when Sony launched the Vita. I guess with the Bioshock coming to Switch is as close as having the Vita port portable as we'll ever gonna get. Either way, this would be cool since we never did get Bioshock on the Vita like we were promised.

I also heard it might be released alongside the Metroid Prime Trilogy according to many retailer listings.

BioShock on a handheld sounds pretty cool. Worse graphics and 10 times higher price than everywhere else sounds way less cool.

I bought the trilogy for 5 bucks on Steam on some sale. Felt a bit dirty, since Infinite was included. That game sucks.

A collection? Now that I wouldn't mind paying full price for if it had ALL THREE (1, 2, Infinite) games.

That’s pretty cool. Real good trilogy of games. I have the 360 and Xbox One versions of those games already though and that will be good enough for me. Being able to play them on the go though is a nice thought.

Don't forget the DLC (Minerva's Den is amazing).

IMHO: I'm waiting for a Metroid Prime trilogy for Switch.

Playing Jedi Fallen Order has made me want to return to Metroid Prime.

Heh, cool. I'm waiting until it's cheap on Jedi Fallen Order. A Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch I wouldn't be able to wait on, though. That's day 1.

What's similar with these two? Is there backtracking and puzzles and shit in Fallen Order?

The series is overrated. Well, the first game is very overrated.

Infinite>1>2.

Anyway, there is no reason to buy these games again especially on switch which will feature massive downgrades. Stop trying to justify playing 10 year old console ports because they are portable.

Why the fudge would anyone would want to play Bioshock on the bus/train? It would be uncomfortable and annoying. It’s such a lame excuse to justify paying full price for 10 year old console ports.

Primarily the level design and unlocking new parts of the levels reminds me a lot of Metroid Prime. In a very good way :)

Hmmm tempting... but I already own it on XB1. So it'd have to be a great deal for me to pick it up again.

@nintendoboy16: Why would you WANT to pay full price when the games are last gen and the collection is even now 2-3 years old and heavy discounted for all other platforms? Do nintendo fanboys actually enjoy getting screwed?!?

Thats cool. Its a game that should be experienced. Hope 2K not separate the package and sold the games individually like what capcom did with DMC.

What did the collection cost (at release) on the X1? If memory serves me somewhat correctly wasn't it $39.99 USD?

I must ask what massive downgrades would take place as the games weren't crazy in terms of graphics anyway. Using Alien Isolation as an example shows how a port can actually look better on Switch than PS4/X1 so it might be premature and naive to assume the worst.

You can get the collection for $15 or less on a platform that wont run it poorly.....

I think buying this on Switch is very silly indeed.

@ButDuuude: thats cool, but with the Vita does it require you to own both the Vita and ps4? Doesnt the game still have to run on your ps4? I dont even see the vita anymore, seems expensive for what it is, i looked into it once, memory sticks being only sonys expensive ones was a stupid move, made me not want to get one.

You can play ps4 games on a phone? Dont really want to play off my phone but I'm curious, is this like Xbox xcloud? Ive never heard about this playstation phone thing

I was so amped for Bioshock on Vita, alas....

A port to the Switch would be a must buy for me.

Lol. We'll see.

Anyway, 'perfectly fine' is subjective. I bet it will be 30fps with drops into the low 20's on low graphics settings.

The Switch just isn't good at running 3D apps. Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart are the only 3D games that I would say run 'perfectly fine'.

@Solaryellow: Can you name any other games that look "better" on the switch? One older, cross gen game (it was also released on the ps3/360) doesn't mean much seeing they've implemented all kinds of new tech to smooth out the jaggies that they didn't have back when it first released, and just about everything else looks better on the ps4 version. If they went back and patched the ps4/X1 versions they'd be the superior versions with ease.
