Bioshock dev shuns PS3 for next game?

i'm just curious what game it will be...

Bioshock developer 2K Boston is yet again shunning the PlayStation 3 for its next title, if an internet job listing is anything to go by.

The ad, which can be found on games recruitment site Gamasutra, calls out for a handful of art-centric jobs including lead artist, level builder and animator positions.

"Do you believe video games are art? WE DO! 2K Boston, the studio behind the art-deco inspired underworld dystopia known as Rapture, is looking for talented Artists to help bring our next vision to life," the job ad reads.
Crucially for internet conspiracy theorists though, 2K Boston only lists Xbox 360 and Windows as platforms for the title in question. So unless it's keeping quiet, PlayStation 3 owners are yet again going to miss out.

As this is take two, it'll proably end up like gta. No support for anything but the one system, then two games come out at once at a dsccouned price.

Also my guess on the new project is bioshock 2.. but thats take twos decision not 2K Boston.

Boston, eh? Next project from Irrational won't be that. Their Australian branch is working (for over a year now) on follow up to one of most legendary PC franchises (my guess? X-COM). I just hope unlike Bioshock it will be PC-first, consoles-later. Otherwise it will end up being another dissapoitment like Bioshock wasAdrianWerner

Yeah, what a dissappointment that game was. I mean, being one of the best games to come along in a year full of great games sure makes it a piece of crap. Wow.

That's understandable, but I really dont see how thats any consoles fault. At the end of the day bioshock hit the mainstream, unlike their former games, because it was on both the 360 and pc.

guess again..there was virtually NO marketing for bioshock pre launch...

the fact is; it exceeded most people's realistic expectations since there were very little...

That's understandable, but I really dont see how thats any consoles fault. At the end of the day bioshock hit the mainstream, unlike their former games, because it was on both the 360 and pc.

It was dumbed down for console gamers, that's what i comes down to. SS2 was much more difficult, and took a lot more thought. Bioshock was a good game, no where near what I had expected. I played through it fairly easily, especially since when you died, you ended right back where you were practically, so dieing wasn't exactly bad...

The game was to easy, and not as deep as promised, that's why it was a disappointment to me.

Yeah, it was a very easy game... But we now live in age that if you want a story as epic as bioshock and be in the black you do need to dumb it down for the mass market regardless. It's a sad, sad thing but games like mass effect with its over complicated controls will prbably drop out of the chart much faster than bioshock.

developers are in a dfficult position, between making a game for the hardcore and making a game for everyone. In all honesty I think 2K struck the balance as well as hey could off... they did make an absolutly great game, but they also made money out of it to make other games.

Bioshock was amazing, nothing more and nothing less.

they allready figured it out they said, but it would be for a sequel. so i would like to see myself.

Bioshock was a pure single player experience, i fully agree. it wouldn't work as a MP. But they did figure out a way to make a multi player with the same type of weapons (according to the devs).

hermits are so annoying, ss2 wasnt exactly a big seller. Besides, the most dumbed down games of all are pc games.

like you said bioshock is a single player experiance through and through, due to the atmosphere its trying to convey. Sure it'd be cool to frag someone with a plasmid, but I honestly do believe any mp (even as a completly different option) would both distract the gamer and the developer to what's important and that's the single player.

We have plenty of multiplayer fps games, but in terms of truly amazing single player games in the last few years, I can only count Half Life 2 and Bioshock.

sure, but it wouldn't be that single player story. it would be a different story for multi player. Bioshock is a PURE single player.

I can imagine a multi player game with plasmids and upgradable weapons... in fact shadowrun is a tiny step in the right direction.

In other words you miss the good old days when they would have made a PC only version. Then you would rate it AAAA.

Hehe, you'll have to get used to the new world. I am an ex hermit myself. Consoles aren't as "dumb" as you suggest. Think about it, all it is is another PC in your living room with a controller instead of k/m.

As for me personally, i think it would be great if they made a PS3 title. I hope it's an exclusive titel made twith only the PS3 hardware in mind.

Exclusives are the way to go imo for quality games.
