GOTY 2012? It looks incredible and I really can't wait to play it. It also looks like the story will be great.

Well, it does have to compete against Last Guardian
True...if The Last Guardian ever comes out!
Is this a new engine ? the graphics are amazing, voice acting is very good also.TheGuardian03
They probably moved to UE3 from UE2.5 :P
Certainly looks great, but I don't really understand why it won so many E3 awards when everything else looked just as good.
I think it is possible this game might go beyond a simple Game of the Year and end up being one of the defining titles of this gen.
Looks absolutely ******* amazing and I love seeing so much originality and creativity poured into one game.
Absolutely cannot WAIT to get my hands on this game!

Damn :P why not use the updated UE3.5 ?That technically doesn't exist. Gears 3 doesn't even use the latest UE3/UDK revision. It's about 1-2 years old. There are always lots of new additions and features, new UI layouts, ect. It's best to pick one revision and stick with it.

good joke. the Last Guardian will flop :)
I think it will flop too but its just hype, doesn't mean it will be a bad game.It looks like it's going to be a great game. I love Ico and Shadow of the Collusous. But GOTY? I don't know about that. And when I said fail, I apologize. I meant flop, I don't mean it's going to be a bad game.

UE 3.5 was the Gears 2 iteration i believe, what is in the UDK is 3.971. Bioshock infinite uses an updated engine, not the newest, but from the looks of it, an early to mid 2010 build.[QUOTE="dercoo"][QUOTE="PhazonBlazer"]

Not with the big guns of 2011 to be released
Devs have really started hiting their stride, hopefully the 2012/13 new gen wall won't break it

But at least I was more-or-less correct about the date of their build.
OT but would you recommend learning UDK or CE3 editor? If it matters, I've start working on some concept art for a corridor-type TPS world that I wanna bring to life. Not interested into making a game out of it, but just a world.

2012 is gonna be just as bad as 2011 IMO. So far, not that many games, but PS Vita, Wii-U, and games listed already.

I actually am interested in the PS Vita. For the same price as a 3DS, it seems like you get alot more for your money.

Well, Vita is 2011, but yeah most of the game will likely be early 2012.
Heck, they're allot of potential 2012 games, that I'm too unsure to say 2012 at this moment, exp: Halo 4 and FF13vs,

Yeah all the Vita has this year is Uncharted. While a great series, that isn't enough for me. I've decided to wait a year, more or less, for consoles and handhelds before buying. That's when they start getting a lot of games. Only making an exception for the Wii-U.
Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. F-everything else, I got all I need! Heck if we're lucky, another WoW expansion might be pushed out also since Blizzard is ramping up production of WoW material. 2012 is gonna be one sweet year. I already have an odd feeling 2013 might suck though.

I am too. It's got a ton of sweet tech especially that AMOLED screen (It better be AMOLED and not just OLED.) Dual analog sticks and Uncharted out the gate. Revelations looks just as good as Uncharted, but doesn't come out till next year. I'm getting a 3DS first however, because Uncharted isn't that big of a deal for me. 3DS has like 6 games definitely worth getting during holiday 2011.

OT but would you recommend learning UDK or CE3 editor? If it matters, I've start working on some concept art for a corridor-type TPS world that I wanna bring to life. Not interested into making a game out of it, but just a world.
Depends on the game, which one is better will basically depend on how static the environments are.For example if for the most part the lighting is static then you will be able to achieve better lighting quality with Unreal( See games like mirrors edge), however CE3 handles dynamic lighting and shadowing better than Unreal. Also if it is more inside than outside can also make a difference, CE3 only does its real time global illumination from the sun, so if the game is underground you loose that advantage.
As for the editors themselves, the UDK is more flexible, but CE3 is probably easier to work with although it is very lacking in the amount of documentation compared to Unreal
*drools* one of the commentors said he watched it then watched it again to stare at elizabeth...I did the same thing. I am still thanking god they changed her looks.

Sounds like I'm gonna be reading heavily about CE3 then. I do remember CE2 being really easy to use, not to mention the UI is a lot better IMO. Community definitly did a lot of their own work and documentation. For now it's definitely a night-time thing, but I very much interactivity and dynamic objects. Definitely a mix of inside and outside, but heavier emphasis on inside. I'm aiming for a Silent Hill: Shattered Memories/Resident Evil 2 kind of thing. Figured trying to create stuff I'm already extremely familiar with and with tools that I have even a bit of experience with would be best. One thing I was extremely interested in was PhysX and what I could learn doing it. I know UDK has integration for it, but I don't think CE3 does.
Looks like I'm gonna be downloading a few manuals/tutorials and buying a few books. That CryEngine 3 Cookbook is first on my list.

I did not even know there was a cryengine 3 cookbook, i just read all the tech papers and have been using the manual :P Yeah CE3 doesn't use Physx, Crytek made their own physics engine, it is pretty decent itself, a little less mature than havok, but supports just about all the physics capabilities you would come to expect with a current generation physics engine.I did not even know there was a cryengine 3 cookbook, i just read all the tech papers and have been using the manual :P Yeah CE3 doesn't use Physx, Crytek made their own physics engine, it is pretty decent itself, a little less mature than havok, but supports just about all the physics capabilities you would come to expect with a current generation physics engine.ferret-gamer
Cookbook in case you're interested. It was just released.
I liked PhysX because the results seem more impressive IMO, though you need an extra GPU just to run it maxed out. I also like what APEX can do, and that hair demo from the 580. I'll probably never understand how these work or how to fully use them, but I don't care about that since I'm learning just so I can d*** around and make random stuff. Sacrifices must be made though, or I just learn UDK instead.
Nice to see Skyline actually working. I was a bit worried, but now, this game looks too good.funsohng
IMHO, it actually doesn't look that good. The art is really good, but it doesn't seem technically impressive. I find it kinda odd I'm getting a Skysword Sword-vibe from the visuals for some reason.
It looks good, but I don't see how I'll be able to find my way around these levels. How do I know when to change 'coaster'? Looks really confusing :s001011000101101
Agreed. Knowing when to and not to use the Skyline seems very confusing, unless this is just gonna be a heavily scripted game.

And here I am thinking Skyward Sword looks really good. Besides, if it looks too good, I can't run it >_>Just started watching it but...is anyone else irked by all the cheesy one liners the main character is spitting out like he was on stage at a 2 bit comic club?Jynxzor
Not at all ;) It's not set in modern times and Booker's just being nice to his pretty little assignment. She's sort of juvenile afterall.
The game looks worlds apart from it's predecessor imo.
Edit: I don't care how scripted it'll be either tbh. Looks like they're going out of their way to let you experience an engaging adventure.
