  • Big drops from 60fps to low 40's on both in different areas
  • PS4 missing AF
  • Both run at native 1080p
  • Settings are identical otherwise
  • Stuterring which makes it look like hard drive issues happens on both but are worse on XBO

Apparently the PC versions were not immune to bugs in the remastered version either.

https://www.vg247.com/2016/09/16/bioshock-the-collection-on-pc-has-the-same-bugs-as-the-original-and-then-some/

According to a number of PC players on a reddit thread and a good portion of reviews on Steam, the remaster is plagued with the same bugs as the original.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun lists the problems along with fixes. These include the lack of options for 5.1 surround, mouse smoothing issues, and audio issues to name a few.

Unsurprisingly, with the initial release almost a decade ago, players aren’t too thrilled that these bugs have persisted in the remaster.

Apparently these remasters are absolute shite. I apparently got them free on PC, but they're just buggy as all hell.

What's up with PS4 and with shitty Anisotropic filtering or its lack in ports of old games? It had happened with DmC Devil May Cry before. The Bone is supposedly weaker all around bar CPU but it can deliver that.

Not getting the absolute shit vibes from impressions I've heard. Shame switching over to a new engine resulted in whatever losses it did, but otherwise the ports look solid.

After a little research it seems that the free upgrades on PC are performing horribly. While the console versions are mostly fine.

@Zero_epyon: Nah, on mobile. Don't know how lol. Never use GS on PC. But If you Google bioshock collection it'll bring up what I was reading.

This speaks about the developer's incompetency more than the consoles' weak hardware. But wtf is up with the lack of AF this gen on both consoles? How is this still a thing in 2016? It's almost free on PC in terms of framerate budget.

The pc thing would fit better on the bioshock 1/2 remasters as there is no new version of Infinite on PC.

I actually thought about installing the remaster of first game and replaying it, read some gaf impressions of it and not gonna bother.

Besides for some mouse acceleration issues (which I think can be fixed with an .ini tweak, like the original), there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it to me. However, I've only played the first so far, so I don't know about 2's state. Plus they fixed the worst thing about the original BioShock- the janky, capped 30fps animations. It's a hell of a lot smoother and looks a lot better on the animation side, even if it's a very tiny upgrade for textures/geometry.

For free, it's a nice thing to have to replay the game with, but I would never pay money for these if I already owned the originals.

same here. Installed it today and its really smooth and bug free so far. There are some problems but not enough to complain about a free remaster ( though i wouldnt pay 20 euros for those 2 ) . Biggest one is mouse acceleration and lack of graphics options outside resolution/aniso/AA ( though not that of a problem considering i get around 100 fps on an r9 380 and even my old 7850 is enough for 60fps )

PS3 also had a distinct lack of AF compared to 360 too.... I wonder if Microsoft have some kind of mandatory requirement for texture filtering.

thanks for the link. Tried the mouse smoothing fix and now feels much better .

Tried the FOV as well but for some reason feels a bit strange now. I reverted back to the games extended FOV option and feels ok ( seems to be about 85-90 which is ok )

Pc doesn't get a remastered Infinite, but yeah people are complaining hard about the pc remakes. I've had a few issues but mostly find Bioshock 1 remastered to be completely playable. Weird that the Ps4 version has no AF, also about that frame rate, the remaster doesn't look much better than what the game looked like on pc when it originally released, these consoles should easily run these games.

Ugh

Stuttering is WAAAY worse than the occasional FPS drop.

Did play for a bit to test it out:

Yes the water truly is downgraded

Sound and mouse accel was fixed with the ini tweaks

144fps on 1440p and gpu use mostly under 80%

weird hitching here and there, but noticeable

Still interested myself, but I was gonna wait until a future price drop and/or sale with substantial discounts. Hopefully around holidays we may see it down a bit.

Framerate drops seem fine to me, but it's the stuttering that's more of an issue. Thankfully for those times it does happens it's while walking into new sections of the maps, but in combat it doesn't appear that the problem is so much framerate causing the stuttering as much as frame pacing. Lots of games are out with very variable framerates that manage to give quite an impression of smooth gameplay because the frame pacing is smooth. Maybe some of this can be corrected with some updates, though I doubt they'll go through the trouble considering this was a quick and cheap cash-in.

I've only played through Bioshock 1 so far, and it ran beautifully on XB1. Couple of small framerate drops here and there, but nothing major.

But haven't tried 2 or Infinite yet.
