I'm currently play it, I'm about 10 hours into it and it's blowing my mind. I read so many bad reviews from players.
What are you guys disappointed about in this game?

I played it for only 1 and half hour and uninstalled it. one of the worst shooter i have played. shooting mechanics absolutely suck, level design are too scripted, game is waay too cinematic. I cant believe how come this game recieve 9s and 10s. Shooting mechanics and level design are the reason we play FPS games and when those 2 basic feature suck. game absolutely blow.
Bioshock infinite made Original bioshock feel like system shock 2. thats who bad this game is.
I didn't have a problem with the game... It was a little shooting gallery-esque, and I thought the final gameplay segment was kind of meh... But it was not a bad game. If anything I'd say it just didn't live up to the same tone presented in the first two bioshocks.

Yep. I still don't understand the hate it gets lol.
@indzman: I just don't think it lives up to the massive hype. What they were showing with themes and interactions, Elizabeth's role... It was a slam dunk for GOTY talk. After it released I think most people felt like it was a pretty good game that didn't really ascend the franchise beyond what had already been done, and in many people's opinions, "done better" with the first two shocks.

I missed Elizabeths playable DLC. But completed OG game. It was very solid , also that 'shocking' ending.Enjoyed it more over Bioshock 2 as i felt Bioshock 2 was more of Bioshock Heh.
Now we are talking about this, i'm thinking to get back into it again lol.
No idea. It's better than the original Bioshock in every way. The gameplay is mediocre but that world is so incredible and they way they use music in that game was brilliant. It even has a fun story filled with great charavters. Even the credits were fantastic.
Arguably BioShock 1 was simply a remakeb of System Shock 2.
.I really liked BioShock 2 - the good ending hit me right in the feels; unlike Bioshock Infinite with Star Trek: Generation - Quantum Leap shit - and throwing eggs at black people to show how important it is - it's a straight forward story about exploitation and forgiveness.
My biggest gripe with the game is how they obviously put a lot of effort into the universe and environments, and then went on to make a game in which you spend 90% of the time shooting at things. That last "boss" battle was total horseshit and managed to completely slow the game to a crawl in its last 15 minutes. It was ridiculous.

Minus the tone part, this, I actually like ideas in that story, enough that I wanted to replay the game, and the combat has its moments when you are just wrecking mooks with the powers, it's just the game falls apart when held under scrutiny. I still had a lot of fun though, and no where near the "games are arteru" nonsense that some people want it to be I guess.
That said I also do get a lot of the hate, I just think the game is more enjoyable than it gets credit for sometimes.
Instead of being a fun game it's more interested in trying to come across as intelligent.
Nailed it
It's one of the best games i've ever played and it has tons of great reviews, too many 10/10s ....so the game is definitely top-notch ....after all, different tastes.
And i still believe that the hate somehow has sth to do with them not understanding the story

They just created a struggle of infinite paradoxes. It just doesn't really make all that much sense to begin with. When you deal with time travel or alternate realities, you have to come full circle. They didn't do that in this game, and it just ended up being too convoluted for its own good.
It had so massive hype and it was so much covered here in GS it was ridiculous ... I played it to see the what the fuss was all about and it wasn't very good. Meh like a 6/10
The hype was all about the mindfuck story and how incredible it was and also the employee who wanted to quit his job because of religious beleives ... I was like ... seriously ? It tried hard
It was nothing the hype was ...
When I read oter's opinion on the game I get the feeling they played very passively and didn't experiment a lot with the powers. One fault with the game is that it perhaps doesn't incentivize you enough to do that. But if you fly around the stages, activate various rifts, use the various power combos and stick to the heavy weapons (hand cannon, shotgun, sniper) it's a blast to play imo. Really fun gameplay. I played it twice + DLC + Clash in the clouds and the more I played the more fun the actual gameplay got.
The people who hate the gameplay of BS:I are the same kind of gamers who go through an entire God Of War game just using one combo and then complain how repetetive it is. Well you know there's something you can do about it too.....
@mjorh: I understood the story. I still hated the game.
Lemme get this straight, does your hate stems from hating the story?

Well , it did. Why do you think it didn't?

I've seen a lotta positive impressions from gamers as well, but i just don't get the hate.....hell i haven't seen any videogame with THAT much positive reviews to be hated this much.....it just doesn't add up ..... you have your goddamn unique story that's never been told in any videogame, this dare to try is valuable in my eyes, you have the perfect art design , attention to details, you have this fun gameplay ....srsly the game, by any stretch, should not be hated....if you're a fan of FPS.
Hell even Champ who hates all games , gave it 8/10 ....'nuff said :D
I enjoyed it overall, once I understood the story, and it's a complicated story. It's my least favorite Bioshock however, 2 main reasons are :
-no underwater atmosphere like the first 2 games, which was one of my favorite thing about the series.
-It felt less of a science-fiction game compared to the first 2 titles.
@mjorh: Nah, it stems from it being a fundamentally unfun game to play. I was cool with the story, I just think it focused on the story too much at the expense of the gameplay.
It had really boring, derivative gameplay that was massively disconnected with a story it focused on heavily.
I feel like people judge this game more on what they expected it to be then what it actually is.
What is it? It's fun adventure romp, no more, nothing less, It briefly touches on heavier subject matter, but that's all. I didn't see the game trying to overly intelligent or pretentious. This is a fucking game where you can shoot hordes of crows out of your hands. What the heck did people expect this game to be?
@Pikminmaniac: "disconnected with a story it focused on heavily"
A very pertinent point my friend, it feels disjointed.

Tbh , i don't defend gameplay of it, it wasn't sth special or spectacular but it was fun for me ....and my priority was the story ...which was brilliant.
As I played I progressively lost interest in it and what was happening to the point that I just never came back to the game, I was also one of those people at launch who had no idea why it was scoring as high as it was.
One of my favourite games of all time, I at least preferred it over Call of Duty series, Battlefield series, Metro series, Half Life 2, Crysis series. I even had fun more with gameplay more than with story, I never played a game to enjoy its story only (if I did, I'd have liked a game like Remember me for example), except if it has some choices. I mean for heck sake, I don't even watch movies or like them. And of the best things about it for me, was, it wasn't all about non-stop shooting. Also same goes for HL2, I love these two so much.

And I think we can all agree it should be docked at least 5 points for being a video game. As all video games should be.
I didn't hate it (didn't play all of it). I didn't particularly like it either.
Another game that focused too much on narrative and atmosphere and not enough on solid gameplay.

lmao
As far as i recall it was 8 ...lemme check ....yeah it's 8.
And damn you've given 7 to HL2! it should be atleast 9imo.
After watching the trailers and getting really hyped it failed to do anything spectacular. It cut a lot of what was shown from the trailers and it was mostly run of the mill FPS. It was boring. I liked the idea of the story and the ending though. I think the only stellar Bioshock was the first one.
It's quite different from Bioshock. It opted to be more of a cinematic game in the same vein as UC, though I felt it still retained its scavenging and environmental storytelling and gameplay, though others disagree.
I still think the tale told is excellent and am having to restrain myself from getting in another forum spat with the haters :P
Wasn't bad, but wasn't that great either. It also seemed to take forever to come out, with lots of hype building for it, and the delivery fell short IMO, though critically it was pretty praised in its time so I wouldn't say there's lots of hate.
I also didn't find the world as captivating as Ryan's Rapture in the first Bioshock. Also, it's easy to understand Ryan's philosophy, the world he created, his motive for doing so. Whereas, I never really felt right in their lack of explanation where an alternate universe Booker Comstock had a religious epiphany and how that ties into Columbia's creation of an ultranationalistic jingoistic racist identity; are we just to accept religious southerns are inherently racist bigots too?
2 is just the best one, i'm hoping they make a Bioshock 3, Infinite was barely a sequel IMO, but as i said, i liked it.
Arguably BioShock 1 was simply a remakeb of System Shock 2.

And Bioshock feels like also the failed utopia attempt of Ultima Underworld, maybe System Shock comes from that.
Lets see, Infinite steps away from the Looking Glass, Shock, style of gameplay for a Call of Duty like shooter, the story tries to be more intelligent but its actually moronic, the characters are one dimensional who are there to throw enemies at you, Elizabeth's development is so forced, the plot rips of Bioshock 2, and its unintentionally offensive with the atrocious treatment of the Vox and equating them morally with the Founders.
And the DLC is Ultima IX levels of bad in how it treats Rapture's past lore.
In my opinion it isn't a bad game and I enjoyed some parts of it a lot (story moments mostly). But I also think it is extremely overrated. Bioshock: Infinite at its core is your typical blockbuster FPS of that era with every modern FPS cliche.
Encounter design is terrible. You experience one shooting gallery after another and the game fails to build up before those encounters, and fails to keep things interesting. Opening moments of the game were really good and atmosphere was fantastic but once you experience gunplay, everything goes to hell. 7/10.
Bioshock Infinite wasn't bad, but compared to the first two it was lackluster.
The storyline was rather dumb, the 2-weapon limitation hurt the gunplay, the environment didn't have the same claustrophobia of being under the sea, it just didn't hit the sweet spot viscerally. I also did not care for having an NPC follow me around, it just broke the immersion for me. There was too much of a focus on looting to try to get upgrades from vending machine.
Overall it was "hate out of 10" (8 out of 10, not a bad game but ultimately skippable.)
