I went to buy a copy of bioshock today but was kindeve talked in to reserving metroid instead.Ive been wanting both games since they were first announced but at this point in time i only have anough to buy one.So what im asking is should i have went ahead and bought bioshock and waited on metroid? The reason i went ahead and reserved metroid is because i really havent played my wii much latly so i figured id get metroid first and put my wii to some use.The bioshock demo was awesome so im definatly gonna get it i just dont know when. What do u guys think?

Both. You need both. Both are completely new and unique experiences that should not be missed at all. Do whatever you can to get both.

Both. I've been playing Bioshock non-stop since Tuesday, and it is absolutely amazing. My favorite game since the original Half-life. I can't wait until Metroid Prime 3, as I have a feeling it's going to be just as awesome.

Im definatly getting both i just really need a game for my wii at the moment cause ive not been playing it.Dont get me wrong i love my wii its just they really havent had many games come out that interest me.Metroid prime 3 has to be good because its a nintendo first party title and there the only ones right now that really know how to put the wiimote to good use at the moment.Im gonna probably wait a few weeks and then get bioshock.September will be a real big month for me because of halo3 but i want a good game to play until then. There are just tooo many games coming out over the next few months that i want for wii and 360.My budget just cant keep up with all of them so my choices have to be really picky.Eventually i will get to all of them though.

That would completely eliminate the purpose of buying Bioshock. You have to play through the game at least twice and then as many times after that until you are satisfied you have tried every possible route through every situation in every level. I'm going to say about 4 or 5 more times on top of that. Then there is the supposed "no killing" run that is, according to Ken Levine, actually possible. And from what I have seen so far... it seems impossible.

Trading in a game like BioShock would be a terrible mistake

How about trading MP3? As much as I enjoyed MP, I never felt like going back and play it.

The "tokens" and "trading" aspects will help increase replay value. Majority of the people I know who have played both the first Prime's have gone back at least once more to either complete the game 100% or just to experience it again. Prime 3 will probably have a significant amount more replay value then the first two iterations but nothing along the lines of BioShock. Both games are going to be absolute keepers if anyone considers themselves a "hardcore" gamer whose interests lies in games like Prime 3 and BioShock.

Well it better have since those didn't made me go back, making the trade not so ''crazy''. We'll see though.

Not even once?

I've always found the Metroid games to be one of the series you can play over and over again. It's so nonlinear and the way you can approach things, then there's speed runs, 100% runs, lowest % runs, no energy tank/missile playthrough.

Oh and Hard mode. :P

I'd imagine BioShock is no different in offering different ways to play it.

But I guess if you really didn't feel like playing it again. :(

Big typo :P

Metroid Prime 3 by a hair, Retro outdid themselves (and thats saying something!) with this game from what I've read and seen with IGN and Nintendo Power, the latter is much less biased then u think.

Prime 3 will be the first truly great Wii game, and unlike TP and SPM this one was built from the ground up as a Wii game.

foxhound_fox obviously u missed my post that came after that one were i said that there was a little bit of sarcasm in that comment. As far as one of the three bioshock,halo3 or mass effect being the most defining game on the 360 this year that all comes down to the fans of those genres.Theres not a doubt in my mind that halo3 will be a huge game.

Thats strange, IMO Metroid Prime felt better and better each and every time i've played through it. Amazing game!

The game somehow has great replayability.

Prime 3 will be different than the others for certain, it will feel fresh, guarantee it!

From what I understand, Bioshock is too easy, guarantee you can't say that with Corruption, which will proviode a good challenge.

Even if Bioshock and Mass Effect earn slightly more critical acclaim, Halo 3 will still be the 360 game to own this year, and maybe this generation. It's the last episode in the Xbox'sdefining series and will be the premiere console online game for years to come.

Everyone is reviewing bioshock as the game of the year so far so how can you pass on that. Metroid prime 3 should be alot of fun. But man that demo just blew me away when i first played it. still have to buy that game.

It will have similar gameplay, puzzles, enemies, etc. Even ifMP3 is the most radical of the series, it's still Metroid Prime. Bioshock on the other hand has no comparisons, and is the most critically acclaimed game in years. I'm sure MP3 will be great, but I wouldn't pick it up over Bioshock if I wasn't already a big Metroid fan.

BioShock is like that and more. Every time I do something I think of about 3 or 4 other ways I could have got it done. I've already wanted to start the game over completely from the beginning again and do everything differently at least two or three times. I can easily see myself playing the game at least another 4 or 5 times. Once or twice more just to get all the piece of the story as well as the second ending and then another two, one for a speed run and then another for a "no kill" run.

Both, is what I personally will do, but he made it sound like it was mutally exclusive. If he bought BioShock he wouldn't be able to afford MP3. When presented with that scenario play BioShock till you burn out, then trade in for MP3. Renting it you can't rent BioShock you need to have it for at least 2 weeks, if not longer.

Prime 3 will have its share of differences, trust me, even the puzzles have broken the Metroid rules from what I've read. Bioshock is no more critically acclaimed than Twilight Princess or Gears of War were after 33 reviews at GameRankings. Bioshock will drop on that list, and yes, its one of my most wanted games this year, but i have heard its not that far removed from a traditional shooter or even SS2.

Choosing between them is stupid. Get them both.

In fact, get two copies of both, in case the first one gets dirty.

You've heard wrong. Outside of the few similarities it shares with SS2 (like weapon upgrading, vending machines and hacking) it is completely different. It is an amazingly unique experience. One that has never been made before and probably not ever again (until BioShock 2 comes out). It does like Ken Levine said so long ago... it takes the FPS genre and sticks a stake through the heart of all those cliches.

I really dont like buying 2 games at the same time either because ill be trying to play both and it could hurt the experience of the other in my opinion. If i only have one right now then i can focus my attention towards that one story and game experience.Dont get me wrong though if i could offord both right now id probably have em both.

Bioshock has been on my radar, but MP3 has been in my sights since its announcement. I will assertain this game if it is that last thing I do.coreygames

I don't think i've ever seen that word in SW before. Congrats.

Anyway. I would probably get Bioshock now. One reason. Dual analog.

You don't want to play MP3 and then have to go back to analog. It will not feel natural. Play Bioshock while your still used to analog, then goto MP3. Thats my reasoning ;)
