Bioshock: The most Overrated Game this gen

So I just finished Bioshock on my 360 and all I can say is WHY TF?!! did it get a 10 from other sites. This game is in the 8.5 to 9.0 range... seriously there are people out there that shouldnt review games.

Here are my complaints:

• The game is too easy as in super EASY, the final boss is the easiest boss in all of Videogames I have played.
• Worst and lamest plot twist
• Too many glitches, lags, freezing etc
• Great premise but horrible and cliched story
• Great art but "meh" graphics

Oh and you might want to get a flameshield.

You're right! There are people who shouldn't be allowed to review games... and you're one of them.

First it was Halo, then Gears now Bioshock.Its getting old now.

I'll agree that Bioshock was overrated - it was enjoyable, but wasn't as good as the 'classic' FPSRPGs (System Shock 2, Deus Ex)... but I'd argue that Oblivion was the most overrated game this gen.

Your points also apply to Oblivion (too easy, no plot twists, too many glitches, horrible and cliched story, great graphics with terrible art design), but Oblivion also had fundamentally broken gameplay (the levelling system, depthless combat, basically no role-playing) and was rated higher (making it the most overrated).

QFT, i have only played 5 mins of the game and im itching for my sisters bf to bring his 360 with bioshock to my house so i can finish it, my 360 died on me so im waiting to play this game.jonesy1911

cmon 5 mins? you need to finish the game before you stamp QFT all over other peoples opinion on this game. Bioshock is so similar with Darkness. Both games feel so fresh(in the FPS department) that it makes you feel commited to finishing it.

But just like the darkness... sigh.

1. Play it on normal or hard then.

2. I found the story quite interesting.

3. I only ever found a few minor glitches and I never got lag or freezing.

4. The graphics are very good. Environmnets are full of detail and it looks very smooth.

- Worst and lamest plot twist : depends on how you play it

- Too many glitches, lags, freezing etc.: none what so ever, but there are rports of them, and easy fixes

- Great premise but horrible and cliched story: good story

- Great art but "meh" graphics: disagree. though graphics could be better, they are certainly good enough andvery good compared to most games

1 2 4 are your opinion although its bullcrap show bioshock pics for the grahpics the plot twist is super andstory is super too

3 is crapit never lags or freezes for me just try pressing the A button when you see the 2k logo till the water slows down and release it everytime you play the game.. same thing I always did for oblivion... Do not download the update be warned...

5mmm every1 that came by my house told me woow super graphics at first sight and so onso I dont know. even my bro thinks it has great graphics he just hates this sort of games. takes too long for him to finish it lol...

P.S. I played the 360 version for hours and hours and still cant wait to play it for more hours and hours without a lag...

exactly im just playing gears single player on insane (finding all the cog tags aswell) and its bloody hard and rewarding and theres so much detail everywhere and the gameplay is pure tactical an archaic that + an infinite online multyplayer which is even more hectic it truely deserved 9.6

Most of the "over-rated" comments have a bovine origin though, nothing more than console envy.

I come close to agreeing with your opening statement but the justifications you give are all wrong. For me Bioshock is a very dated, old-fashioned game wrapped in a lavish artistry, sound, atmosphere and storytelling. As a game it is very dull, as an experience it succeeds with aplomb. I find the game to be very inconsistent, there are awe-inspiring moments followed by mundane sections. I read interviews and previews promising a wealth of scenarios in which you must make a moral choice, in reality this boiled down to killing the Little Sisters or not.

There were also issues with glitches, especially in terms of ragdoll physics. This is going to become an increasingly discussed issue in the gaming world, the on-screen actions are not keeping up with visual advances. Both hardware and software development is disproportionately directing the added horsepower towards graphics, neglecting other more important aspects such as AI. The more photorealistic our games look, the more incongruous glitches, dimwitted AI and poor animation become.

Having finished the game, I have to agree. It's a pretty game, with a great story and awesome sound effects / music. But the actual gameplay sucks. Launch an Incinerate, wait for the enemy to die, rinse and repeat (with a couple hacks here and there).

You're entitled to your opinion. Now hear mine:

Bioshock is easily the best game I've played this year. The 'lame plot twist' you site is the best story arc I've seen since KOTOR.The game never froze but did glitch on me once... although it didn't force a reboot. Playing it on Hard mode is NOT easy... not if you care about saving all the little sisters. The graphics were so good I spent hours just studying the rich envioronments. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun looking around. And the gameplay is some of the deepest action I've seen since Deus Ex... if you didn't enjoy it, it's probably because you werent creative enough to capitalize on the attacks of opportunity and use your powers in a clever fashion. The AI was amazing, and the good ending is one of the most touching emotional experiences I've ever seen in a game. So yeah, I disagree with you.

You can play any game like that. Anyone who abuses one attack is a tool and not worthy of playing the game. Pfft, Zelda. All you do is mash the 'A' button. There's a few shield blocks here and there.

i kind of agree with the TC actually.I too think Bioshock is overrated, but for different reasons. The combat just doesn't do it for me, and it brings the whole game down. The atmosphere is amazing, the story is driving, the graphics are top notch...but the game focuses almost solely on combat. There is some exploration, yes, but there are no puzzles of any kind to be had. It just seems likea missed oppurtunity to me. It's all here, but the combat takes center stage 99% of the time, and I think it's too repetitive to make that the main attraction.

Oh, that was just ONE example.

Halo- pfft, just mash the trigger button

God of War- just mash ANY button

Final Fantasy- just spam defense spells and attack here and there

Or, while we're at it, Ikaruga- Just mash the shield changing button, with a few attacks here and there.
