"Yeah, you know we actually reference a lot from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. We used a lot of their GUIs and the way they did their ship - that was kind of like in some of the early designs for the Normandy," revealed Watts.

"Our attack helicopters are loosely based off that movie. There's some great stuff, especially their glowing GUI screens; we used those a lot. I keep a folder of that stuff and I still actually tell the guys 'just go back and look at that. Change it like that!'"

Linkage.

just goes to show you who's boss here ;)

the movie visually at that time was amazing and very cool, but it was still a very boring and dull movie for me

*Enters SW mode* FANBOY ARTICLE! MASS EFFECT ISN'T AN RPG! *Exists mode* Seriously though, I though it was influenced off Star wars/gate/trek or something.

The complaints about Final Fantasy aren't about it's graphics ;) Interesting find tho!

I actually liked The Spirits Within. It was a hell of a lot better than that awful drek Advent Children.

Funny (but not surprising) that they used a movie instead of the games.

Shepard is the mostandrogynous in gaming history, so I see it.

Did you know most classical RPG's were inspired by Dungeons and Dragons? Taking inspiration is not bad, copying is.

Indeed. At least The Spirits Within is something Advent Children wasn't: Coherent.

I was about to say "Doesn't look anything like Final Fantasy." :?

But when when I saw the 'Final Fantasy: Spirits Within' I'm like "Oh yeah, I totally see that now." :|

Bioware was inspired by a lot of different sources for Mass Effect.

In that sense, it was a true sequel to the game which was also not coherent.

As a Final Fantasy fan, I still haven't seen Spirits Within. The tape I borrowed years ago, was all messed up that I couldn't see it.

I like Spirits Within. It may not have been a FF per se, but it was an entertaining movie. Still have the DVD too.

I never noticed the similarities, but hey, it's hard to notice similarities when Mass Effect 2 is total crap. Mass Effect 1 was awesome though.

...He/she is robotic? Compered to stone face shep in ME1, Shep is super charismatic with out the roleplaying involved. On another note....If you feel your Shep is robotic.....then get into the roleplaying your Sheperd!!! Based on my second play through, Sheperd is not robotic, especially a FemShep who has a temper.

The animations are awkward. DAII was better in that area.

Well IMO the facial expressions and animations are better in DAII =) So theres really nothing to debate...

I teasing you....I know how wonky the expressions can get. But do note that ME2 has the better eyes.;) Anyway, was ME2 lacks is in inbetween animation, the character can look very expressive while talking (When eye brows go to the right place.) but at pause...they are disturbingly robotic. DA2 has more animations than ME2.
