end of this year i have the chance of getting a nice pc:

intel core 2 duo E6300
$369 www.intel.com.au
only $30 more then the much less powerful E4300

gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (V3.3)
$229 www.synnex.com.au
650i pricing is still just too high

G.Skill NJ 2GB PC5400
$190 www.gskill.com.tw
5-5-5-15 and under $200...awesome

HIS Radeon X1950PRO IceQ3 Turbo VIVO
$319 www.bronet.com.au
out of the box performance meets tasty price...

Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers
$150 www.logitech.com
they sound like they should be more expensive

ASUS DRW-1608P3S DVD Burner
$62 www.asus.com.au
it does everything you need at a budget price

Seagate 320GB SATAII w/ NCQ HDD
$205 www.seagate.com.au
NCQ helps bring access times right down

CHIMEI 221D 22" 5M DVI WIDESCREEN
$499 www.protac.com.au
there is a reason everything is going widescreen, it's fantastic!

Antec SonataII with 450W PSU
$215 www.altech.com.au
nothing can beat this little combo from Antec

Logitech media keyboard
$30 www.logitech.com
Media keyboard! sounds like it should have speakers

Razer Diamondback mouse
$109 www.altech.com.au
on-the-fly sensitivity for the sniper in you.

TOTAL COST: $2377

except that im gonna scrap the mouse and the gfx card and get a radeon hd 2900 xtx (which should be out by then).

or i could get a ps3 or an xbox 360......

im lost, i have no idea which one to go for, ps3 seems....not so good at the moment...so yea....

What is the AU-US conversion rate now?.... because those prices seem way too high for those items. Lots of stuff you listed costs half as much on Newegg.com. Should look into 8800 series GPU too...

Get a PC though. 360 online is a joke compared to a good PC experience. PS3 is a must have at some point down the road.

The PC would be really great, but personally I'd go for the Elite 360. So many great games. I've recently bought a PC of gaming standard and there are so few really good games out in comparison that aren't RTS's.

1. New egg does not ship to Australia, but I am sure their is a simalar australian site around somewhere.

2. Are those Australian dollers or US dollers? if its US, then you can deffinetly do a lot better.

3. If your gonna buy a PC, buy it in September. Their will be a large price drop in July, Intel is lowering some of their prices by nearly 50%.

For good FPS games, go for the 360 there is even a few good RTS ames out for it like C&C Tiberium Wars. Bur for RPGs, especially MMORPGs pC is the way to go (Even though the 360 has Oblivion too). PS3......I would wait a while to make that choice because within these few months its do or die for Sony.

Why would he ever choose the 360 for FPS's over a PC? Let alone RTS's....which the PC gets tons of.

If you want a system with power, the PC will always be better, although you will probably have to spend more on hardware overall... It's your choice, but if I had to pick and I had the money I'd take a PC- half the good 360 and PS3 games will probably wind up as ports anyway.
