Its a good idea but I think it may help the PS3 just because it makes the PS3 look close to the same price range, but If MS keeps the premuim out on shelves and the core then they will be fine

How is that exactly? It's not replacing the premium unit, and unless you're a technophile and/or really want IPTV, there is nothing that would force you to buy that version.
I wonder how the early adopters goin to deal with this..they got ripped off big time..and if they want 120gb they have to cough up another 179 dollars..and the new and improve xbox360 is way better..lets hope it will work great..

And new owners can only buy the Elite cause buying any other version will make them die soon after lolÂ

ouch but thats true..lets wish the new elite xbox360 doesnt have much problem..yeah im gettin tired of hearin the red lights of death but its hard to escape it when it constanty happenin to people..3 sku's lol microsoft really want to confuse the consumers.
Looks like I will have to wait for the 65nm chips.

The Elite has HDMI and twice as much space in the HDD than the $600 and is still over $100 cheaper. So as long as they make that known it should go over well for them.  Anyway yes they are only putting out the Elite as a option, they will still have the two versions out also. They also arnt doing anything that effects the actual hardware or software so no one is screwed over unless they are totally obsessed with the colour black.

It's not constantly happening to people (the malfunctions). If a group of the relatively low over-all percentage tha are affected by harware failures decide to post their woes on here, it makes it appear as though it's a much bigger problem than it actually is.
