I was just playing through BLACK  and Resistance and, to tell you the truth, i can barely tell any difference between them, except  the hand grendades explode a lot better in BLACK.  As much as i like Resistance, you have to wonder why its getting so much praise. Resistance is not really all that "next gen" after all.

Have not played Resistance yet but BLACK is easy the best 3D shooter for Ps2, love that game :)

I agree. Sont says that the Cell Processor is so amazing because in a game like Resistance so much can be happening on-screen.

Well in BLACK there is just as much stuff happening, and it looks great.

But it can't match Resistance in the story and online aspect.

Are any of you guys useing an HDTV. That makes a huge differance with the PS3. I had just finished Rainbow Six Vegas when i started Resistence. And Resistence looked almost as good as RBV when in it's natural 720p resolution. I also played it on a standard TV. Where it then started looking like a very good original Xbox game. It downgrades it a lot. It looks better then 360's launch title Perfect Dark Zero though. Thats for sure.

i'd rather pay for a game with online, multiplayer and co op options than some graphical physics demo
id love to try black... but when i run a decent pc and am exposed to fps games with actual multiplayer i see no urgent desire

ofcourse this has nothing to do with graphics
but i will say, i'm more impressed by pushing a system's last few yrs of power to the max than i am with a launch next gen game

No there is a huge difference in resolution, textures, character models, animations,  physics, numbersof objects .........but it still does just look like a last gen game on steriods because there is a lack of detail in a lot of areas that make it seem really plain.

Funny...I'm playing Black on an HDTV and it looks insane.  I just bought it a few days ago and it really does look better than a few next-gen games...I don't know how they did it, but it has TONS of stuff going on at once and it looks incredible.

Black is all flash, no substance.

It's a fun game but they even called it 'gun porn'. And if you think it looks better than R:FoM you need to get your eyes checked or something.

Having played both myself, Resistance easily trumps Black in graphics and gameplay. But yeah, R:FOM isn't exactly the best PS3 has to offer.

Well yeah, but I'm just saying that it does look pretty amazing on an HDTV.  Resistance does look great though...it will definitely be the first game I get when I get my PS3.

You don't need a developper to say it it's common sense. Look at the Xbox, Halo and Halo 2 the difference is pretty much big. PS1, FF7 and FF9. Ps2 is the same thing also. Anyways it's common sense.

I happen to agree with him...and yes i do have a hdtv...a nice one in fact. Aside from better resolution, Resistance is on par with Black. Black even does some things better.

I haven't played BLACK in a while so i would need to play it again to make that assumption about it being equal to RFOM in graphics.  But Resistance still looks good for a launch game.  I sometimes think the gun models could be polished up a little better but thats just me.

Play resistance at 1080 and you will see the difference. I haven't played it at 480 to compare against Black, but there is no chance in hell Black even comes close to Resistance. The PS2 would come to a screaching hault if it attempted to have as many enemies on the screen at once that Resistance can do.

BLACK is amzingly good but if you look closely the txtures, phyics, mapping, moddleing and decals look worse then Resisteance (which is also an amzing game) I love both but because of the generation gap in tech Resistance wins.

I  agree I was playing Resistance at a friends and I was not impressed at all graphically, alot of xbox games looks just as good than Resistence does.

yeah...even though theres a lot happening in BLACK...the AI is just stupid as hell. I guess there's not enough processing power to do both good graphic technology and AI at the same time.

Kameo looked great for a launch game.  Still one of the best-looking 360 games(IMO)
