I need competition!!!! That's where my fun is!

My Warcraft 3 CD has been scratched for a while now, and I've tried to get into C&C3. I used to have a lot of fun with the game playing single player, but now I'm in this competitive craze, where if I'm not facing someone online - playing the game is pointless.

And I found out that C&C3 is impossible to play effectively. There is so much s*** going on at once it's impossible to control. You can litteraly get through the entire tech tree in under 3 mintues. Units build so fast that it seems I have a cheat code on, not to mention there are like 15 different types of units you can build per building. Everyone just masses tanks and rushes. There are so many balance issues the game is impossible to be good at without exploiting it, and yet instead of patching it, they decide to make an expansion!?

I can't find my starcraft discs either, and my CS team broke up as well. I need to beat someone in something!

This is more of a rant, but for all those other RTS players - do you actually just skirmish the computer and play campaign for fun? Or when you buy that RTS, you plan to go all out?

I like my campaigns and skirmish AI a lot, thank you very much. I always get creamed when I play online in RTS's and that actually detracts from my "fun" with RTS games.

if you want to play rts if u have an xbox go for LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth. I still play this game and truly do enjoy it on the 360. People still play, and everything is balanced imo

If you're looking for something new try CoH or Supreme Commander.

I have CoH. Not really my style, way to complicated for me =p. I guess Blizzard has just spoiled me.

You could try worldbuilder! Or just wait for SC2.

Just make sure you are only playing C&C3 on the PC NOT on the 360. There is a big difference.

Try Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War with the expansion Dark Crusade. Both got great ratings on GS and I love them. I don't really know much about the Warhammer 40k universe (since I have never gone into Games Workshop- the lair of all things ultra nerdy) but the game is very generous when explaining the story and general background of all the races.

Recently my friend got tired of WC3 and bought Dawn of War on Steam and we're having fun.

We usually do 2v2 skirmishes online against comps set on hard. It provides a lot of laughs because of the chaos that happens. You'd be surprised how formidable comps can be in that game.

Try the demo and see if you like it.

i know how you feel. RA2 is still the best, most balanced rts for online (IMO). ever play C&C generals? horribly unbalanced, build four aurora bombers and give then the speed upgrade and they're impossible to shoot down before they take out their target, and can easily take out an army of tanks in a single swoop.

meh it depends. some RTSs have great single player campaign and AI, and in many cases, if the single player experience isn't spectacular out of the box, people will mod it so that it does kick ***. i prefer single player myself but multiplayer has the added challenge of actually going toe to toe with a smart human opponent (although this totally depends on your opponent)
