What a Moron. Persona 3 didn't get AAA?
I know right?
Persona 3 should've been 9.0

Persona is overrated, blue dragon deserve a higher score. IT"S FROM THE DREAM TEAM! persona 3 is from a group of nobody's.I know right?
Persona 3 should've been 9.0

Ehhh we shouldn't be surprised.
It's a niche title.
Same reason why Odin Sphere, Guilty Gear X, Third Strike, and Etrian Odyessy didn't get AAA, hell they didn't even get AA.
Niche titles don't do well on major publications.

Without Yuuji Horii = no dream team.

Odin Sphere, I don't think it didn't reach AA because it was niche title.
I think it didn't reach AA because it was side scrolling RPG based on Norse mythology.
That's my only way to accept Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 including Odin Sphere didn't reach AAA, heck even AA.
I'm love SE and teh Final Fantasy...but, I thought Blue Dragon was a decent JRPG. It deserved a 7.5 in my opinion.

THat would been a better score, one I could even accept.
Who cares what score it got? If you like JRPGs play it, if not stay away. How does something being officialy recognized as "good" or "bad" affect how much you enjoy something? You don't need anyones permission to enjoy what you enjoy.Riverwolf007
That's a silly point to make. That's like saying... "If you like FPS games you should play them all".
Games are expensive, most people, like myself cannot afford to buy or indeed rent every game that comes out, we have to prioritize. I don't take selective reviews into account or the comments of just a few individuals, I try to get all opinions and then decide whether to invest my time and money in a game. In the case of Blue Dragon, I felt that the majority of these reviews and comments did not recognize the quality of the game and that almost deterred me from buying it.
I would discuss why this happened, it does not happen often.
it was horribly overrated. it deserved a 2 in my opinion.
first time in my life i've seen the final fantasy guys fail hard at making a game.

Sorry to sound clueless but are you implying that they are so good that they would've still got AAA if they were regular niche titles since they are so good?
P.S. VP2 got exactly 8.0.

An 8.0 would be more in line with other sites. Gamespot sister site Metacritic has it at 7.9 right now. That doesn't change the Gamespot score but it does mean that the game has been very well recieved elsewhere. If you like JRPGs this and Trusty Bell are both safe bets. .
It got what it deserved..
(and pretty much every other JRPG deserves that score imo..)
user_nat
and imo that's the score all FPS should get.
I really enjoyed Blue Dragon.ArisShadows
As do I. I didn't like the demo at al, but I bought the game. I'm on disk 2 right now, and I'm inthralled with it. I find it rather good :)
I would like to find out why Blue Dragon on the 360 is falling short in the praise department.
I recently played my way through it and I have to say that I found it to be a truly stellar JRPG which rivals or betters nearly every JRPG I have played since the SNES days. For example, nearly every JRPG in the FF series after FF7 have declined in that very important factor of play... fun. Blue Dragon seems to recapture that magic, and, on top of that has one of the best battle systems yet devised, superb graphics and presentation that outshone any efforts I have played recently.
Maybe there has been too much blind worship of the FF series' direction recently, perhaps that has tainted a return to the simpler colorful direction that Blue Dragon offers... after all, it was this direction that won success for the FF series in the beginning anyway. Or is it the Sony fanboys that are a little annoyed that a JRPG like Blue Dragon hit the 360 giving it bad press?
What do you think? I think to call Blue Dragon an average JRPG is a very unfair for a game as good as this. I almost didn't buy it because of these comments.
BTW... I'm glad that the Japanese voice track was given as an option in this game, the voice acting the the Japanese is amazing. English voice dubbing ruins everything, so much is lost in translation. Use the subtitles, it's worth it!!!Sapph0
oh god. Are you seriously comparing blue dragon with FF7? Seriously? blue dragon should be considered horrible when compared to FF7. Its below average.
Negatives:
Ugh!
unfairly? underrated? this game deserves a 6.5 or 7 at best.
There's a difference between a game paying homage to an old school game and a game essentially being an old school game. Standards have risen since the days of Secret of Mana/Chrono Trigger/FFVI - battle systems have been revised and tweaked (die random battles!), storylines have gotten more complex, character creation/management/inventory have progressed beyond simply picking items out of a menu. A game that gives us FFIV mechanics (which doesn't play the nostalgia card, e.g., a remake) wrapped in modern expectations will not sit well for most of us who have moved beyond a simplier era.
