After playing Split/Second I'm sorta turned off about racers, I'll give this a rent after Alan Wake and check it out though.

It was fun until the second half, where rubber band AI BLOWS by you in cars that you know aren't as powerful. And it's impossible to win most events, and I haven't won a single time trial (detonator) event. I think the game could of been alot better, I would of liked more short cuts, but the AI is what bugs me the worst.
As far as this type of game goes I thought the Full Auto games were better than Blur. To me Blur plays and feels to much like Mario Kart. In Full Auto it felt like you were shooting/being shot by guns and rockets while in Blur's case the way your car just gets shoved off to the side makes me feel like I just ran over a banana peel. Check out Fuel to see what the most underrated racing game this gen is.
havent played the full game, but based off the beta I like the concept but meh, I play kart styleracers for the non realism aspects of them, not them trying to go for super reaistic styles.

That actually made me lose all respect for the game. "Race like a big boy" Really? That's their way of saying "we're not as good as Mario Kart, but if we get you to believe it's kiddy we might get you to buy our game instead."

The rubber band AI is some of the worst I have seen this gen. It's also annoying how the AI won't attack each other.
The drifting is also clunky and most the cars are a chore to drive. I didn't even make it to the second half, after a few episodes I decided that I would rather play Ridge Racer. It's the only arcade racer I have kept for more than a couple months. Once you master the drifting the game really opens up.
I played it at Gamescom back last year and I was convinced it would be a surprise hit, but it doesn't particularly seem so. :( I'll probably pick it up when retailers inevitably reduce it to bargain bin-prices.
Midngiht Club LA doesnt get nearly as much love as it deserves.
Paradise gets waaaaaaaaaaay too much credit. It's the worst game in the series IMO, excluding the PSP games and the 1st one which I havent played. The only thing going for it is lots of free DLC.
On topic, I played the demo for both Blur and SplitSecond and they were pretty good but I wont buy them

Sorry son. But that would be Mario Kart.No, it wouldn't. Mario Kart Wii is arguably the worst game in the series. No, there are worse Mario Kart games than Wii. Mario Kart Super Circuit is worse than Mario Kart Wii (according to the majority, I wouldn't know because I haven't played it).

Burnout Paradise was Fun but they ruined the online experience. Playing Burnout online is all about knowing the course and beating other drivers with good driving. Paradise took that way with allowing people to make their own course and choose their own routes. It was not the same burnout as burnout 3 and revenge were.

Sega All Stars Racing was surprisingly good. The track designs were superb, especially the Samba de Amigo tracks.
Agreed. One of my favorite stages, it sure was trippy.:P A sequel would be welcomed.
In a sequel, I would like for them to include more characters. There's so many Sega characters that weren't used. This might sound weird, but I would enjoy seeing Vyse in a pirate ship kart.
Also, I want to see the stages come from more places. Although the stages were superb, they seemed to come from the same games in all the cups. I wanted to see a Crazy Taxi stage.
Yea it looks great, i'm going to be getting it very soon.
As for non-sim racing games, i don't think Trackmania Nations: Forever gets nearly enough recognition, its addicting, insanely well designed, has an infinite number of tracks thanks to the fantastic track editor, and best of all its 100% FREE!
Just rented the PS3 version and been through a couple races on SP, and it is pretty fun so far. I like the power ups so far and there seems to be a lot of stuff to unlock and try out. I shall see if this is better than Mario Kart Wii.

The single player is okay but it gets frustrating. The game really shines online though. When you get a good group of racers together in a lobby it gets competivite and fun. I like the whole level up thing as well.
