neither right now... im not paying 2000 bucks for a tv to watch them on.that will only last 4 to 5 years sorry...munsonedDVDs are they way to go, they are cheap, fair quality, durable and easy to find.
Blu-Ray is a good idea but it doesn't always mean HD and who's gonna buy a player for £1000 that won't play any of their old dvds on it rendering them useless.privateiron13
this one sentence right here says you have no freaking clue what you are talking about
Although Blue-Ray is the better system I think HD-DVD will be the one that takes off biggest, It's simple, cheap and does exactly what it say's on the tin. People that know nothing about technology don't want to mess about when getting a new dvd, they want to know what they're gettin is gonna work on their system and be in HD thats it. Blu-Ray is a good idea but it doesn't always mean HD and who's gonna buy a player for £1000 that won't play any of their old dvds on it rendering them useless. Sony come up with these wild new things but they rearly work, look at mini disk, that was a brilliant bit of kit, little cd's that don't get scratched and can be recorded on to like tapes 'a master peice' but complicated and expencive. Or dare I say the whole beta max thing.privateiron13blu ray players still play old dvds, just not hd-dvds, and speaking of scratching disks my scratched up dvds skip while my sratchted up blu rays play fine.
I can't wait for downloaded content to take over so both die. I think they should be spanked for not agreeing on a universal format.Â

I personally think everyone should buy both if they are gonna dive in right now. You simply can't buy one or the other with out running a huge risk of hitching your wagon to a dead format. The great thing is, the 360 and PS3 are the cheapest options to do this right now. And regarldess of which format ulimately becomes the standard, you'll still have 2 consoles which will be garunteed winners for the next 5 years.
If I had to pick one or the other right now, I'd say Blu-Ray, now that they've got the kinks worked out, the PQ and SQ on both formats is identical. However, Blu-Ray has more studio support, and has more releases on a weekly basis than HD-DVD. It also just took the lead in overall sales. I just don't want to have to wait 3 or more years for Universal Studio and Weinstien releases, so I have no regrets buying HD-DVDs either.
