Both formats will be around for a long time so no need to decide a winner right now. Oh and this is System wars not Format wars

I say both

but if I could only have one it would be HDDVD because of better studios and higher standards for quality

I wouldn't say either is particularly better, but if I had to pick a winner between the two, I'd go with blu-ray, because every single person who owns a PS3 also owns a blu-ray player. That'll be a strong argument when said person decides which format to go with. It's a little frustrating as a PS3 owner to watch movies like Transformers go over to HD-DVD, but the majority of movies I care about seem to come out on blu-ray (they've got Sony Pictures, after all), so most of the time I'm happy.

I'll stick with my DVD collection for now. I'll decide which one to get if and when the winner is clear.

It's hard to say right now because not enough Blu-Ray/HD-DVD players are out in peoples home so sales of the movies aren't that spectacular. Once prices are $150 for a player we will see which format is the one to go with.

Also it seems that Blockbuster has went ahead and gone with Blu-Ray

i have HDDVD but mainly because i have a 360. i LOVE it, i'm sure blu-ray is equally as good. but honestly for now since you already have a PS3 just stick with blue ray movies. no matter which format wins (years from now) at least all the movies in HD you bought will work :)

Well HD-DVD is more self-explanatory than Blu-Ray is most people are like "wtf is blu-ray" But now more people are starting to get know what Blu-Ray really is but still more info needs to be put out there about Blu-Ray.

6 million Blu-ray players just from PS3 alone isn't enough!?
