Bluray is outselling HD DVD dramatically 9-2. Does HD DVD have it's feet in the grave! Sony's not looking so dumb after all.

I find it funny how people were claiming Blu-ray and not HD-DVD to be the next betamax lol. The tables have turned for the better.

Isn't it possible that neither "next-gen" format will catch on before another format/option comes out?

To quench such an idea, you should show that DVD sales are severely slackening.

i have said many times that blu ray will not fail for the simple fact that it is a staple with the ps3 hardware....people dont want to buy an hd dvd player for couple hundred almost a thousand bucks, and they dont want to buy an xbox 360 and the add on. most of those sales are from people who own ps3 for gamin purposes. i dont think the majority of the population has entered the hd era as of yt

VHS outsold DVD by a large margin it's first few years as well.  So true with the horse and the car, the cruise ship and the airplane, the slide rule and the calculator, etc.

As long as HD-DVD/Bluray players cost 3 and 4 times the price of DVD players, you can bet DVD won't be going anywhere.

NOt surprising.  Sony's BR simply has the superior support and far more exclusive support.  HD-DVD only has one exclusive studio while BR has three major studios exclusive.  If you want High Def movies, the smartest choice right now is to go with BR.  PLUS BR has a bigger and faster growing library right now than HD-DVD and more weekly releases practically every week.

I'm glad I went with the winning format, and this format war is going to be over sooner than everyone thought.

And for those people shouting but the DVD,DVD'S dont play Hi Def movies, thats the whole point of the HD DVD vs Blu Ray,Hi Def content.

Unless the "toy" in question was actually a trojan horse.  Sony never cared about the gaming market this time around.  It was merely meant as a method of immediate market penetration and so far it's working.

By the way, what is your attachment to HD-DVD?  Do you get a medal or a kickback?  I never cared wether HD-DVD or Bluray won.  I bought into both because I knew that HD media was needed.   I just want one to win and can clearly see the obvious results to date.

blu-ray will probably beat hddvd but will take a long time to get close to dvd and by that time on-demand through cable or satellite or Internet will be more popular.

sony even said that it's next playstation wouldn't be using disc media.

im so glad you did. because what i see is this, 360 out one year 9mill or so sold, ps3 out for 5months 3mill sold. its not hard to see why the ps3 is in last place. i mean a year head start cant be the answer though, it has to be something else right tango? wiht your logic and all which is always had failed but oh well.  also its sad when a 360 owner (me) knows that ps3 will out sell the 360 in the long run. but hey its not about what  tommorow will holds, its about NOW. so yep ps3 is in last place. but like i said your a bright one tango, really you are.

and also its sad when Wii will end up out selling the 360 which had a head start, by the end of the year. but yep keep living the fanboy world, it only makes me laugh daily when you post with out thinking.  Just like yesterday on this thread :) you can scroll down to the second to last post. you never came back to post and i wonder why.

see the problem between me and you is. your a fanboy, who blindy follows a company . me on the other hand is a gamer who loves all consoles the same, but dont like fanboys of any consoles either Cow, lemming or sheep posting stuff without placing the facts down. like your self .

Sony isd still looking sumb after all.....they are selling Blue-ray Players and not videogame systems.....80% of the PS3's sold were sold because of the "cheap" Blue-Ray Player
