Poll Borderlands 4 care level (40 votes)

Very high (it's gonna be great) 8%
Meh (sale buy later) 28%
Whatever (does not care) 65%
No Caption Provided

Borderlands is a series that's main appeal aesthetically, is it's cartoon aesthetics.

So they ignore that and made a live action movie with shit looking cosplayer, because Randy Pitchford isn't an idiot. Neither are Blizzard.

The game itself, can be summed up as "crap loot, repetitive, unfunny, everyone shouting which is apparently funny"

Noticed the art-direction seems to be worse now, it is kind of ugly.

Yet this series still sells well, it has co-op and it's simple, people like that.

Did you get any hype, what-so-ever from Boredomlands 4?

Haven't cared since about midway through Borderlands 2 when I stopped playing... Because, well, I just didn't care anymore. 🤷

On a scale of 1-10, I give my level of care a rating of "**** Randy Pitchford"

In all seriousness, I find the Borderlands series as a whole to be the most boring game series that isn't a cinematic movie game like TLOU.

I don't know how that's possible because technically the games are action packed, but somehow they end up being really, really, really boring.

Only ever really played Borderlands 2. I did enjoy it well enough. Liked the humour and the gameplay loop was kind of fun. Never played anything after that though. Think that was probably enough for me with the franchise. Doubt I’ll ever get to this one either even when deeply discounted. I guess I’m at the “Don’t Care” level.

Yes.

The leveling up tends to be very boring. You're expected to play 20-50+ hours but their isn't a sense of satisfying character growth.

The players abilities do not transcend into something interesting, still ultimately tapping a button with a slight boost on the base state, where it feels inconsequential.

Similarly, this series seems to boast about the amount guns can be generated, all 100 billion of them, feel inconsequential, and more to the point, not interesting.

Their is no cool armor aesthetics, or enough to the stat buffs to make them feel as anything other than inconsequential.

I think that's the key word really, inconsequential.

Even as you mentioned, the action, which it has lots of, it very quickly it feels like cows waiting in a field before you move onto the next set of cows. Numbing.

Yup.

Feels like a minute since we've had a decent WWII shooter, too, I think it's a prime time to get one out the door.

Love the squad command system, and the storytelling in that game was great, too.

I only liked the first entry and recall enjoying it with friends…I can’t even remember 2. I played 3 with friends as well but it was just more of the same and found it cringe…I’m whatever on 4…not on the top of my list of games to get

I've played Borderlands trilogy and Tiny Tina's Wonderland to extent (really prefer Tiny Tina's Wonderland the most) but I can tell you know I'm so done with this franchise! I just think the movie adaptation has ruined the franchise, I'm just NOT interested in Borderlands 4 at all. That reveal trailer did exactly nothing for me.

Borderlands is one of the few first-person shooters that I enjoy and that's because me and a mate usually co-op the game which we all know co-op makes any game more fun than running a game alone.

So, I will wait for a sale like I did with 3, as I stopped buying them day 1 after the second game.

So many haters in here. The mainline games are all great, though the writing/humor did take a hit in 3.

the shooting is solid, enemy/location variety is always really good, and IMO the loot is good as well. the guns are actually fully randomized, not just the same 10 gun models with randomized stats.

maybe not day 1 for me but ill probably play through it with friends and have a good time

After borderlands 3, a 2. Because I replayed BL2 with my brother and I am holding a bit of hope that BL4 can rekindle the kind of fun we had in BL2

Didn't like 3, so I'm not very interested. But I hope it's good. Can't have too many good coop games.

I think a lot of people hate the games because of that Randy guy. Now I don't know anything about him, and I just judge game on the actual game, and for co-op looter shooters it's among the best.

EDIT: appears I was right as seen below 🤣

Thank you for proving my point.

Every one of these, barring 4, pops with color, with strong lined silhouette, ink like, akin to comic. Punch.

The designs also become progressively convoluted and busy picture to picture.

Akin to this

We shall call this term, abuse of technology just because you can resulting in worse art direction "Arkham syndrome", a term coined just now, which is really good.

I remember enjoying 1 and 2 but then just really lost interest in it.

When the first was announced i was thinking "cool: Diablo with guns. Great idea". But it never quite hit that. The gameplay loop also gets a bit boring after a while and guns, as a form of loot, is not enough on it's own to carry a lootin' and levellin' game.

Maybe if they made it 3rd person (So you can see your loot) and also had loot for armour and shields (I think the original had energy shields which are meh as loot) too add more customisation and make getting loot more satisfying it could be a breath of fresh air for the series.

Also tech has hurt the art style a bit. The lighting and materials are too complex imho.

I am a 9 or 10. Absolutely love the franchise. Feel free to sue me if the game flops, but my excitement is through the roof.

Is it me or is borderlands overrated as a franchise. I've tried and tried to get into it and never held it down for me.

Many people think it. Many people, myself included, cannot finish the game as it doesn't have enough interest to justify it.

But it does sell. Lots. People love coop and this is a very easy to play, simple game normies can enjoy.
