In Versus, there was a part where Noctis faced off against some hooded person who summoned glowing rings. Think that "unknown" individual could be the main villain?
They both look phenomenal. XIII is going for a more fantasy style, and Versus is going for a more real world style, with fantasy mixed in. It's hard to say. I will go with XIII just because it's coming out sooner :D
XIII for me by far, the colour and the art style just reminds me of FFX which is my second favourite game ever. Thats not to say versus looks bad, its shaping up real nice, XIII just comes out earlier.
none of the FF games apart from FFX>FFX 2, and the FFVII compilation are true sequels to one another. Answering your question TC, i think it's to close to call, but the colours in XIII just make it pop out more.

I prefer FF Versus XIII. o_o LOVE the gothic style it has going,but I also like FFXIII due to the massive color palette. Excited for both,but FFVersusXIII gets my vote (accidentally voted for FFXIII.)

The ending of versus trailer was in-game. SE confirmed it in different magazines.
I can't decide. I got love for Final Fantasy XIII because its the main series, the flagship title I got love for Final Fantasy Versus XIII because its battle system, the darker setting, and the great teams working on it. I hope both games do great in sales on all systems.

Think of Versus as taking place in the year 2000 while XIII takes place in the year 3000.

Sounds like they win:P I've never really gotten into Final Fantasy games because I hate the combat system, but if this is an action RPG kinda like Kingdom Hearts then I'm interested!

The whole versus thing comes from the main male and female characters you see in the trailer who are facing off against one another for there own reasons, if you don't see it she looks shockingly similar to the priestess you see in the FF13 trailer. The game isn't a stripped down version, its a full game like FF13 but with a whole different approach to combat (real time combat not turn based combat, think kingdom hearts system adapted to final fantasy).

FFXIII I find the style of versus trying to hard to be "badass", but it just comes across as silly. I hate the character designs as well. If Versus gameplay is anything like KH, im sure it will just be button mashing for 30 hours.

I like how FFXIII is staying true to it's name and I like the dark gritty realistic visual style of VX.I'll deffenatly be both but VS wins this handsdown.

The fabula Nova Crystallis series is just how the directors invision there role of what the crystals mean. Each one will tell a different story , but keep the same myth of the crystals and power. Since Kitase has been the main director (taking over Sakaguchi's role) of the main series its said he took the role of Final Fantasy XIII the main installment. Nomura is handling Versus XIII (which means to go agianst) and you can oblisouly see that with the art style and such. Agito XIII's director has a stance on his mythology of the crystal as well but little is known.
AS for which one im excited about Its probably Versus XIII because its what I think Final Fantasy should evolve into. Nomura has said hes grown a little tired of all the fantasy and wanted to break from it and since he has no limits now (no E rating) and with the advent children team behind him. It looks to be a good one.
The character designs are also something more interesting then the boring stuff seen this gen already. I hope both XIII and Versus XIII deliver some new designs to what a fantasy world should be.
I always thought versus was shaping better even before XIII went multi.. looks like it going to get the first M rating in a Final Fantasy title which is good. but definitely gonna get both. only problem is the emo atmosphere. doesnt have to be emo to be a darker game.

how is it emo 0_O ? looked like an action movie if anything like for example the main character... all dark clothing.. feminine frame and purple hair. the perfect dark game should be something like.. Berserk the anime. I would love to see that as a rpg/action game btw
