New gaming PC just arrived. I just spent $10,000 on my PC setup haha.
Any games that have better graphics than Horizon that I should try out? Recommendations welcome.
RTX 4090 Founder's Edition, most elegant GPU ever.

Hermit King? With a 8-Core CPU? 😂 Lemme guess, you have 16GB of RAM too 🤣
But seriously. Congrats on the new card!
@ghostofgolden: I was going to go with the AMD Ryzen 9 flagship, (Don't want Intel) but apparently the Ryzen 7 7800X3D was supposed to be better for gaming. I don't know. None of this was selected by me. I just told a friend to pick the best of everything lol.
I was really skeptical too btw, 8 core CPU doesn't sound so good for the money I am paying. He sent me a few videos, one where Linus Tech Tips said that the 7800X3D is "The best gaming CPU bar none, and it isn't even close". sounds like hyperbole, but I am SOLD.
And I went for 32gb RAM, but thanks!
@BassMan:
From the big man himself!
I am referring to the total price, which believe it or not is actually around $10k. The PC itself is less than half the cost in total.
Remember this is Norway so we have 25% tax and 5 year extended warranty on everything included into the price.
4090: $2200
7800X3D: $600
Samsung 990 Evo: $300
CPU cooler, case, motherboard, RAM : $700
Audeze LCD-X headphones: $1500
Herman Miller chair: $2500
A nice desk with desk shelf: $1000
custom mechanical keyboard with GMK key caps / milky yellow switches: $400.
Still have not selected my monitor yet but I am torn between the ASUS/LG 27" OLED and the Samsung 34" G8 OLED. those are all around $1500 here.
Some small stuff like DAC/Amps, mouse etc.
I haven't bought a gaming PC since 2009 so I have to buy absolute everything for this PC.
Fucking wrecked my wallet now.
I wish the founders edition cards were still available in Belgium, really like their design

I really can't see games using more than 8-cores, bad optimization and insane DRM aside.
8-cores is what consoles have right now so why would a multiplat on PC ever need more?
To render better graphics or higher resolutions?
@R4gn4r0k:
Absolutely gorgeous. the RTX FE series look like they were made by Apple. Goes very well next to my Macbook hah.
And weird that it isn't available in Belgium. Here in Norway the FE hasn't been available until very recently, around one month ago or so, which is when I bought it.
@Mozelleple112: Nice. The 7800X3D is a great CPU. For just gaming, you made the right choice vs the Ryzen 9. I was joking around and taking jabs at your “king“ statement. Theres some folks around here with some serious rigs.
@Mozelleple112: Oh, and if we’re talking King shit, get another 32GB of RAM to fill up all those slots.
@BassMan: Yeah the whole setup had to be done. I also didn't want to compromise on anything and spend lots of money on stuff that I wasn't fully satisfied with. Could have saved a lot of money on chair, desk, keyboard etc. but **** it. Herman Miller has life time warranty basically and the ones we have at work are extremely good. Love them.
and I certainly won't forget speakers. I will however wait a little while. I still have my PS5 / 77" OLED setup with KEF surround system for all movies / youtube etc. in the mean time I will stick to headphones for PC.
The speakers I want are the KEF LSX-II. I think they are absolutely stunning and I listened to them in a store half a year ago. Amazing little elegant boxes. hard to believe there was no sub woofer connected.
I am however not willing to pay the full $1500. The KEF LSX-I are still on sale here for $700, which is less than half the price. unfortunately only in white. I really hope they LSX-II get a similar discount on Black Friday or I can at least get the black ones used for a nice price.
I mean look at those things!!
@ghostofgolden:
Har to spark som controversy you know. There are some people on this forum claiming I am some sort of cow...
I have spoken with Bass man before, I knew he had a 4090 as well.
maybe 64 RAM in a few years. :D

Not sure what happened but they stopped selling them in a number of countries, it's weird because it just links me to other sites, but other tech sites can't sell an Nvidia card, only Nvidia can.
Still, I'm happy with my 3080ti. Be sure to use DLSS, DLAA and DLDSR in every single game. Let the clarity shine :)
@pclover1980: I don't know if anyone has kept track but I have done nothing but talk shit about Cyberjunk.
that was before my 4090 days, so I might have to buy the game I hated more than any other game twice just to see what maxed out fully path traced overdrive ray tracing looks like... Seen the videos on youtube and it looks sick for sure.

CP2077 on a good gaming PC with RT Overdrive is on another level. Also, those LSX-II are nice.

You can always try it on Steam, don't go over 2 hours and then have the game refunded.
Congrats and welcome to the PC dark side, my friend. By the way, what Motherboard did you get? Just be aware few Motherboards are frying those Ryzen 70003D so make sure you update the bios.

Nothing wrong with using 8 Cores at this time and despite I have a Ryzen 9 5900X with more cores, I would have traded myself for one of those 5800X3D as they really are awesome. Having 6 Cores is still good for the average PC gamer but 8 is the ideal.
@davillain: Your CPU is awesome! When I build a new PC in a few years, I'm gonna be using a 3D cache CPU for sure.
The new 7800X3D and 7900X3D sound awesome too, but that 7900X3D has something where you need to shut off a number of cores that don't have 3D memory? Like, give me something user friendly guys, I don't want to be tweaking every single piece of my PC just to play Prodeus at 300fps.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the better choice. I believe it's because all of the cores share the same cache vs the 9 series which split the cache between the cores. I have a 5800X3D and it absolutely rocked my 3800X.

Where are the white ones $700 I actually need those for my setup.
Congrats, my $500 PS5 has better looking games than your $10K PC.
Debatable atm. On the flip side you have to play most major games at half to a quarter FPS and lower settings than PC (except Jedi Survivor, which will be fixed like most titles), have exponentially less online games/competitive games, the handful of competitive games you do have are riddled with high input lag and again too low fps for anything serious/enjoyable, a significantly smaller high scoring library these last 2 gens, and considerably less features.
I would pay more than $10,000 to avoid all of that. Although in reality I only had to pay $1500 worth of upgrades this gen to avoid it.
@zaryia: Jedi Survivor actually runs well on my girlfriend’s 3090 at 4K and rtx off. The game looks very nice as well. I will try to run it on my RTX 4090 when o get home. But I didn’t noticed any glaring performance dives. Maybe the new patches fixed game or 3090 has 24 GB of VRAM and doesn’t get choked easily.

Haven't tried since last patch, hearing good things.

The latest patch really improves the game overall and it stabilized the CPU so give it a try as I'm still playing it. Just don't use RT as it's still a buggy mess atm.
@zaryia: All over Norway my friend.
with today's exchange rate it is $650 or so actually. That's 5 year extended warranty and tax included. Great price for the product.
I just really want mine to be black with the dark grey kvadrat finish on the sides. (as pictured).
but the LSX are phenomenal speakers. I'm pretty hardcore audiophile but the sound is truly great.
Now I know some will say to get bigger uglier speakers that sound better for less money but, my days of big boxy speakers are over (for now) they have to look good and sound good.

Aww damn I live in USA.
@Litchie: not only am I the king Hermit, I also have to most exquisite taste of all of System Wars.
People often confuse me for just choosing my games based on what wins awards... But its actually opposite. All my favourite games to just happen to win every award and break metacritic records. Funny.
@Mozelleple112: well it’s gonna be hard to top Horizon 5, but you could look at CP 2077 maybe.
Incoming. :D
Should someone only use Windows when building a PC, or would Linux be ok? I prefer Linux, but I don't know how well it handles games.
I did that a few times but still ended up playing on console. Happy benchmarking!
Benchmarking is more fun than most these games out here
All what you're missing is a Herman Miller chair, something bassman doesn't have, but pretends to be the king hermit.
btw what's the model of your omega?

I think some games run on linux, but not all - would need to do the research and look at the games you want to play, to see if Linux is supported. In general, you are better off with Windows though for strictly gaming purposes.
I had a friend who dual-booted his PC, ie. had both windows and Linux installed, would use windows for gaming and linux for everything else. I don't think that is too hard to set up
