Not on par. 1st person aiming on a 3rd person game is fail IMO, Gears 3 will have it and looks bad, I don't like it.SaltyMeatballsI think thats only one of the ways to aim. You can also do classic over the shoulder Gears style aiming as well, i agree with you i hate the conversion to FPS when aiming thats why ill never use it. I wish the guy in the vid used more over the shoulder aiming.
Not on par. 1st person aiming on a 3rd person game is fail IMO, Gears 3 will have it and looks bad, I don't like it.SaltyMeatballsI agree the 1st person looks terrible I know we don't have to use it but I have to question why the devs felt the need for it. Anyway even though it's offscreen you can tell the graphics are good but I doubt they'll be Uncharted level.
Not on par. 1st person aiming on a 3rd person game is fail IMO, Gears 3 will have it and looks bad, I don't like it.SaltyMeatballsDoes it really? I hope the game lets you zoom in without going into first person mode. Personally it's weird to me and how fast the camera goes into transition from 3rd person to 1st hurts my eyes a bit.

Anyway even though it's offscreen you can tell the graphics are good but I doubt they'll be Uncharted level. There was no need for it, looking at the video it's almost the same zoom if not the same, just that a giant scope appears out of nowhere, not even a smooth transition to 1st person.

As long as it gives no advantage in these games then I don't really care, I just think it looks bad.[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]Not on par. 1st person aiming on a 3rd person game is fail IMO, Gears 3 will have it and looks bad, I don't like it.Luxen90
WOW i was just looking at past socom games from zipper and every single Socom game made by zipper has received scores of 8 or higher on here! infact 2 of them have scored a 8.9. I think this game easily has the potential to be AAAE. 5 player online coop modes, 32 player online multiplayer, 10 maps, amazing customizable options for weapons and gear etc and a 10-12 hour long single player campaign. I mean if MAG can score a 8 with no single player, 3 game modes and so so graphics, then Socom 4 is pretty much guaranteed ATLEAST a 8.5.HelghastXtremeWho cares what someone else rates it as.
[QUOTE="Diviniuz"]I just wish the art style wasn't so boringRandoggyWhat did you want them to do? It's a tactical shooter, going for a realistic look. Having Realism doesn't mean the game should look so bland. You can still make the game stand out. I am sure the gameplay will make up for it
Laaaaazy. Character running looks stiff and repetitive, and being able to continually run while pushed against an object? Even handheld games have things where they detect boundaries and stop running so you don't look idiotic. That being said, I hope it does Move some justice.
LMAO What is this I don't even... "The running looks repetitive". This could be the funniest/worst complaint I have ever heard about anything. Running... repetitive... putting one foot in front of the other in the exact same fashion over and over is the very definition of running. Please show me an example of running that isn't "repetitive". :lol:Laaaaazy. Character running looks stiff and repetitive, and being able to continually run while pushed against an object? By that, I more meant that it seems like there's just one canned "running" animation. Something like that could pass on last gen systems, but not here. Something more dynamic, like having the character onscreen react when he climbs up something, look like he's moving with weight. Perhaps I can never explain it well, but it just seems something that's not this gen. It's kinda like press the run button, have your character run at set speed, stop, and they stop. No weight, nothing. I don't want to be controlling Mario, I wanna be controlling something that's weighty, ex. Nico Bellic, John Marston, Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath. Either you get my comment, or I'm coming off as incredibly dumb. Wish I could explain it better, but I really can't.Laaaaazy. Looks alright to me personally, I mean look at other players in COD and you see what it looks like in third person, it's no screaming hell either, but nobody really cares or notices. I just thought stripping your statement down to "the running looks repetitive" was just hilarious. I'm still chuckling typing it. Not hating at all, and I'm not huge SOCOM fanboy or apologist, I don't think it looks mind-bendingly awesome either, but repetitive running just struck me as pretty damn funny as a complaint against something. Glad you could see where I was coming from there because I wasn't trying to troll or flame.[QUOTE="Hahadouken"][QUOTE="Blabadon"]

So they've still got time to work on this right? That guy floating in the air at the beginning did not look as it was intended. Framerate is almost constantly low.
What game mode is this? That map seems really linear.
yeah that vid that TC posted was off screen..but from what I've seen, game looks amazing.
here is a youtube vid of gameplay that is not off screen...but you can put both of these together and get an idea of how great it will look.
make sure you watch it on 720p...480p does not do it justice.
some parts look similar to MAG but there are alot of parts that look like Uncharted, especially the night time map.....and I expect them to clean up alot of parts towards the release time. Someone said they are still messing with the movement speed, to find a nice sweet spot...and that is why the animations look off. That will get corrected at the end....and actaully seems corrected in the vid from TC.
the game is pushing alot of things...has realistic lighting (HDR), detailed characters and environment (with realistic colors to boot), great AA (MLAA?), good use of DOF, and destructible environments and legit 720p.
not too many games have all those running at the same time.

If it would mean a more stable framerate I'd prefer it if they put some unrealistic colors in there.
Ummm. Are those people spawning at 2:26???? That's not a good map design. Guys playing a demo probably the 1st time and he just happened right into a spot where he can shoot right into where people are spawning.. There's maps like that in most Call of Duty games and the new Medal of Honor, and it's CRAP!!!!2ChalupasI believe that's the dynamic spawn system he's talking about right then.

Doesn't look very "dynamic" when that guy is standing there just shooting right into the players spanwning, and then more people continue to appear right in that same spot so he keeps shooting. It looks like the whole map is just one 100 yard stretch of highway with a spawn point on each end.
Run and gun chucking grenades everywhere in a SOCOM game? No thanks. Might as well call this Socom 4:Modern Warfare.

If you choose to spawn at the frontline you'll pop up next to your teammates. You can spawn back at the base or whatever if you don't want to risk getting shot with impervious haste.Nopefully there's a decent spawn camera so you can see if there's a chance of spawning into a fistful of bullets.
That map does look pretty freakin stupid doesn't it?
