Week just before Wii fit was released.

We haven't heard a lot about the Wii outselling the PS3 in japan, but we got a week by week play, when the PS3 fluke outsold the Wii by a thousand units, thanks to a price cut, soccer game, and dynasty warriors all hitting at the same time.

I hear they had this big launch party for the PS3, and all the execs where there, and then nobody showed up to buy it. True story(Note this is a rumor made up by me, Zenfoldor).

This post is not a troll. I'm dead serious and I want some discussion on why the PS3 hasn't sustained its comeback, like the cows said it would? Also, why didn't they post these sales figures, like they did on previous weeks?

Do cows predict that the PS3 will surpass the Wii's overall sales in Japan next year?

What do you think, I want to know? I REALLY must know. How do these numbers affect you, personally, as a Cow?

Flop on these forums is determined by the ratio of expected x / actual x.

Expected 360 units were to be last. Actual 360 units were last.

According to Cows, expected PS3 units were to be first.

Actual PS3 units were just over 1/2 of first.

Therefore, my analysis.

You cows can stop pooing on the 360 Japan sales - the TC didn't say that the 360 was a huge success there, so you're missing the point.

But that is a good week for the Wii. I'm sure after seeing all the reports that PS3 outsodl it in November in Japan they moved some more units that were gonna go to the USA over to Japan so that didn't have to be in the news anymore.

Please explain how it flopped "by definition", slugger. Find me a source that says the Official Hype for PS3 sales was higher than 41k and I will retract my statement.

Japan seems to be favoring the handheld market heavily of late. Those PSP and DS numbers are huge.SmashBrosLegend

It's not a matter of "favoring" handhelds, it's a matter of the price being vastly different. $140 for a PSP or $500 for an Xbox 360 Elite? Not a tough choice for the mother of a 6-year-old.

I don't get why nobody seems to factor prices into any of these arguments, yet they never neglect to slam the PS3 for costing too much.

From working in retail, I can tell you that the vast majority of people buying these consoles, especially in the holiday months, are parents. In Japan, Christmas doesn't factor in very much, but in North America most of the sales are parents buying consoles for their kids. If you think they consider "teh games" more important than "teh cost", you are wrong. Most 8 to 10-year-olds aren't basing their purchases on Gamespot-certified AAA's either.
